I wish I had thought to take some pics here. (Also, this review does not pertain to all Starbucks locations. This is specific to the location on the southwest corner of Stapely & University Dr. in Mesa, AZ). First off, a Starbucks never should have been placed in this location. It's placement right there at the intersection makes it a nightmare to enter & exit from. In addition to this, once you DO enter the lot, there is hardly any parking. This location has a drive through(which the way they have the store setup), is really the only way to patronize it. They do have a walk up window also; however, as I have already stated, there is inadequate parking space. If you do park & use the walk up window there is absolutely no seating. There are some chest high counters that make a three sided square shape on a small slab of concrete in front of the walk up window. If I remember correctly, this area doesn't even have any covering which would provide shade or keep one out of rain. Nothing about this location was designed to make one comfortable. It is not set up for anyone to drink their coffee THERE. Back to the drive thru window though: due to the horrible placement of this location in respect to its placement at the intersection & the ridiculously small lot size, it is typical that the line to the drive through is backed up out into the right lane of the south bound side of Stapely Dr. Often times this will prevent the intersection from being clear & prevents the flow of traffic at the intersection. I am someone who does like Starbucks very much. That is just about ANY location other than this particular location. I advise you to avoid this location at all costs. Starbucks are a dime a dozen. Do yourself a favor & go to any other store. There is very likely a location within just a mile of any given direction...
Read moreI work for Starbucks, and I know that the number one policy that every Starbucks should aim to carry out is to create a welcoming and friendly environment over anything. I had doubts about how a drive-thru only store would carry out that task. Sure enough, my first visit was very disappointing. There were no other cars in the lane, and somehow my simple drink requests were met with impatience and annoyance. I felt like I was the problem, making their days harder, and that they didn’t have time to listen to me. If someone came into my store and made the same requests, I would have met them with grace and a smile; even I know they were not difficult requests at all. Basically, I got a simple order earlier today. Then, as I am down the street some 30 minutes later, I smile to myself and decide to go back for some caramel drizzle, and an add shot. My mom, who I’d also gotten a drink for in my original visit, asked if I could just get some syrup in a side cup for her. I pulled up to the window and asked for these very small additions, offering my cup (without lid) on the shelf for it to be poured into. I know it could have sounded complicated and too much of an ask at peak, but again, nobody else was even in line. Instead of actually listening to me, the partner at the window heard me speak for barely 15 seconds, turned around, let the window shut on me, and stood talking to the barista on bar with her back turned for several minutes. They remade my drink and included the syrup, even though I didn’t need a new drink, and I didn’t want the syrup for me. Eventually I gave up trying to be understood. And now I’m going to another store in town to have them actually remake me the simplest drink ever. My job as a barista is not as hard as these folks acted like I was...

Stopped by this sad excuse of a Starbucks stand on a Wednesday afternoon with my boyfriend. No line. No rush. Just us and what I thought would be a simple drink order: the same one I get at every other Starbucks with zero issue. But no, apparently this location thinks they’re special. The girl behind the counter (you know who you are, the one with the dark green hair and darker attitude) immediately snaps, saying it’s “against company policy.” Okay, sure… never had that problem anywhere else.
At this point, we were over it and just ordered a Venti Mocha Cookie Crumble. Big mistake. Apparently not leaving a tip is now a crime, because the look and tone we got? Absolutely uncalled for. Sorry I don’t tip for attitude and spoiled milk.
Speaking of the drink: it tasted nothing like it should. The milk was definitely off: spoiled, and it was missing that signature creamy, chocolatey flavor. It honestly tasted like regret in a cup.
So yeah, if you’re into getting side eyed, sassed, and served a $10 disappointment this is the place for you. Otherwise? Do yourself a favor and go to literally any...
