We go here whenever we want to make salsa because they have all the right vegetables and they're always nice and fresh. I do not prefer my vegetables waxed. I like them from the farm with a little dirt still on them. That's why I come here.
This time, we also went for some salmon that was on sale and it was probably the best salmon we've ever had. Of course a large part of that was because I'm an excellent cook, but it was super high quality fish, too, so we were very pleased.
This particular visit, combined with our own experience and expectations of a store that was probably built in the 1960s, earned the whole 5 stars, but that's not really going to help someone know whether they should shop here, so there's more.
This place is old and very grungy. Take that into account--you will be stepping in something sticky, either inside the store or in the parking lot. They try really hard to keep the place as clean as possible and I totally trust the produce here. As for the meat, sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it smells kinda bad over there. Things in the middle of the store are generally overpriced, so you may still have to go to another store if you want good prices on those items.
You just have to know what you want or need before you go, and know where else to go if they don't have what you want. However, Mesa is not a food desert. There are dozens of other grocery stores within a five mile radius of this Food City.
I highly recommend their produce, tortilla chips, sale items, and friendly people. We've been coming to this store for 43 years and will always come back. It doesn't have to be fancy if you get...
Read moreUpdate: my family and I have been long time customers here. It’s close and has good prices. Today there was a coupon. Buy 2 Pepsi or 7 up and get 3 free with the app. For one- I never knew they had an app. As customers we should be told and offered. I went to the website and the site “server couldn’t be reached” used the store WiFi and it allowed me to view the website and sign up- but then it kicked me off. I asked the older male employee for assistance and he said condescendingly-“did you forget to pay your bill or something? Do you even have internet?” And then tried to log into the WiFi again. Logged in again- but once more it kicked me off the site. I asked the lady- who I assume is a manager- was counting a cash drawer for assistance and she just rolled her eyes and said “you need to have the coupon”
I- as a manager of a retail shop in Tempe- know that this can be an override. There’s many ways things can be adjusted. Not only did they give subpar customer service, they were like robots. Not a care in the world. This is the last straw for me. And I will proudly add this review to social media platforms across. Such a shame.
It's dirty and the employees won't make eye contact with you at the register. The food selection is small and lines are long. The best thing here is the fresh food when you walk in. The rotisserie chicken is amazing and the salsas...
Read moreI come here occasionally and I’ve noticed food items can be pricey like milk. I didn’t enjoy the bionic, which is fruit salad with variety of fruits drenched in crema and perhaps granola and coconut, it was disappointing to discover that it was mostly apples. I emailed Rob Johnson, from Public Relations, and complained and to my surprise he spoke with the manager from this location and got me a refund. I shopped there today and another manager helped me. It was confusing because there wasn’t a customer service area and I had to wait on the manager to assist me and they couldn’t get a hold of her and told me she was outside. So, I did some shopping and when I went to check out she finally arrived to help me. On my way out a female security guard asked for my receipt and I said no and she said she needed to see it because she wanted to know if one of the items I had was on the receipt. I personally felt targeted and my fiancé as well so he went up to her and demonstrated the receipt and she didn’t take the...
