This place is absolutely awesome!!!!! ---we were driving around Mexia late on a Thursday night looking for a place to eat and saw El Patio--weren't too sure because we knew nothing abt it. All I can say is I can't rave enough abt how Prompt and Attentive the service was and how Absolutely Delicious everything we ordered was !!! We ordered the Chile Ranchero (?) appetizer and it was SO GOOD! The refried beans were authentic/not from a can, the guacamole was FRESH, and we watched the kitchen staff make our corn and flour tortillas, then they were brought to the table fresh and hot. The complimentary black bean dip and salsa and chips were also just absolutely great! My companion ordered the Chili Rellenos and I listened to them rave about it all through the meal, lol. I orderered the special that night-2 selections plus rice and beans ( I ordered one chicken and one beef enchilada w/red sauce)-and again, just absolutely delicious. We ordered large margaritas and laughed when we saw what arrived--huge, and I mean HUGE margarita glasses filled with a knock-out/slap ur mama/dang good margarita, lol ! The service was EXCEPTIONAL and POLITE w/nothing going unnoticed or unattended to -- This place is a hidden gem, at least it was to us----we blasted it out on Facebook to all our friends looking for great Mexican food around Mexia--------Tasty and Exceptional...

We love this place. It’s where my old favorite, Los Pepe’s, once was - but I have to say, El Patio has done a great job of taking its place. I am a creature of habit, and I have ordered the cheese chili relleno more times than I should probably admit…lol. But it’s so good. I often get the sauce on the side, but you can choose from any of the sauces they offer & you can add pretty much any protein - I just happen to love the plain old, oooey-gooey stringy cheddar cheese. My 16 year old son loves their carne asada enchiladas & the shrimp nachos. The service is good, restaurant is clean, oh! And don’t forget dessert. They have a fried cheesecake that is not to be missed. The tres leches layered cake is amazing and even the plain cheesecake is pretty good - but no comparison to the first two I listed. The fajitas for 2 will feed 4 - so it’s a...

Customer service was mediocre. Had to wipe the table off with a napkin once we were seated as it had chips crumbs and salt all over it. Tea was sweet enough to put you into diabetic shock (even after asking for half n half), cheese enchilada plate was horrible (corn tortillas were hard, red sauce was disgusting and plate itself was hotter than the food). Now the guacamole was fantastic and the salsa was ok. They bring salsa is small jug and you can pour in into the little bowls they provide for all at the table (had to ask for another small bowl as one was filthy. Ladies room (bathroom) door knob was broken. Every restaurant has their ā€œuh ohsā€ and ā€œoh goodnessā€ unsatisfactory things to different customers, I understand that. And truly I’d be willing to give them a second chance but make some necessary adjustments...

Very clean. Service was good but nothing special. Plates were hot food was not. Lots of food on the plate though. Lunch special Monday through Friday 10 AM to 3 PM. Unfortunately, the server failed to ask if we wanted beef or chicken on our lunch selections. I got beef by default and I don’t eat beef I eat chicken so that was disappointing. On the positive side, as the pictures will show, the inside was relatively clean bar was beautiful. Extensive bar menu bathrooms were clean although the door knob was broken on the ladies room. Overall typical nothing special Mexican restaurant but I’ve been to worse and I’ve been to better so try it. Just don’t set your expectations very high and you’ll have an enjoyable experience.
