New Management - the former restaurant (Mi Yard is closed, new name/ownership Big Yard). First visit and truly a welcoming family owned business. I came on a weekday for a late lunch early dinner. I ordered the Oxtail teaser and it was the perfect size and portion for one. (Note : the Oxtail Teaser is perfectly priced at $10 and available all day). Oxtail teaser includes rice (white or rice/peas, two oxtails, cabbage and plantain). I also ordered the vanilla rum cake cup. My meal came up to less than $20. Even with these small portions, I had leftovers to take home. Everything was seasoned well, authentic and very tasty. Pleasant customer service which is not always common in this area. The space is also available for hosting small - midsize groups and an event planner is on staff to assist with organizing. Dessert selections are made in house and catering options are available (see biz card attached). I will return and bring friends and family. Keep up the great work and much success in your new...
Read moreI’ve been living in this neighborhood for 3 years and have drove past this restaurant many many times. The previous owners unfortunately did not have the best reviews, hence my hesitation to swing by. I took a gander and checked out Google again only to see the name had changed slightly and now the reviews were through the roof!!! I finally stopped by for lunch and boy what is GOOD!!! I opted for the Ox Tail Teaser for $10 and I regret not getting the full order. Delicious flavor, with a good amount of portion served. I added a small order of chicken wings to compliment my appetite and I was one happy camper! I’m heading over again today and getting lunch for the entire family! We have plans this evening and no one wants to cook, so Big Yard will take good care of us! The friendly and warm service is A1! It’s evident they are about their clients and business. Can’t wait for lunch...
Read moreBig Yard's cuisine had me hooked from the very first bite! As a Nicaraguan raised in the 305, I had never experienced Jamaican food before—but wow, was I in for a treat! Every dish I’ve tried has been cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection. The Jerk chicken? Hands down, my favorite!
I also had the pleasure of trying Chef Trayonna's red cake—OMG! It’s the best I’ve ever had, and I’m a baker by trade. The cake was the perfect balance of sweetness, a hint of tang, and an incredible punch of moisture with a soft, tender crumb.
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit and indulge in their amazing food. This family-owned business is a blessing upon a blessing. The owners are such beautiful souls who will captivate you with their warmth—and their food will make you fall in love from the...
