When @ron.insight305 gives a spot the stamp of approval, I know I’ve got to check it out! I had the pleasure of visiting Geraldine’s & Eula Mae’s Kitchen and Catering (@geulamaes) in Miami Gardens. Just a heads-up—this is a takeout-only gem.
This soulful spot serves up comfort food with love: think fresh cinnamon roll breakfasts, catfish and grits, roasted turkey wings, and their signature Southern hot honey biscuit stack. They also have weekly specials like oxtail egg rolls and catfish tacos. And let’s talk about the CAKES—key lime, banana pudding, cream cheese pound cake, and more. Great customer service, $20ish per place and a little bit of a wait.
MAIN Roasted Turkey Wings, Collard Greens, String Beans, and Yellow Rice
FoodieChews: The roasted turkey wings were absolutely delicious—fall-off-the-bone tender and bursting with flavor. It tasted like they were brined with a blend of fresh herbs—so rich and savory!
The fresh string beans were divine. I could have ate them forever. Tender, well seasoned, etc.
The collard greens should have been called ViNEGAR Braised Collard Greens. Everyone should taste their food while cooking because babyyyyyyyyyyyyy the greens were nice and tender however they tasted like they were boiled in straight vinegar. Yes, I put vinegar in my greens but I do not soak or put a whole bottle in the pot like these tasted. I tried my best to eat them but made a face with each bite and had to stop and leave them alone.
DESSERT Key Lime Cake
FoodieChews: Made with LOVE!! Perfection…Moist with a hint of key lime, homemade icing with pecans….The slice could have been thicker! A sliver is a joke and doesn’t count.
Grade: B Very good and I will be back to try more dishes. On another note, I should never smell like the restaurant. Ventilation System...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. Food is not good at all. For it to be named what it is, it definitely doesn’t give that at all. I’m highly disappointed and I was so excited to try.
I ordered the catfish dinner with rice, collard greens and Mac and cheese. Soon as the catfish hit my tongue there was an immediate fishy taste. Omg after that bite I was too scared to try the rest of the food. The collard greens were sweet. Collard greens shouldn’t be sweet. If you’re gonna put sugar in it, you need to balance the flavor. The Mac and cheese needs a lot of work. It was very dry, there was barely any cheese and it was just loose and falling apart like it’s rice. The rice, looked unappetizing, you can’t even tell if the rice you got was what you ordered. It was so dry and it looked like a bunch of bread crumbs idk it was weird.
I also ordered a fried chicken dinner and the spaghetti. The spaghetti was good. For my fried chicken dinner, my sides were green beans and yams and the same rice (yuck). The green beans you can tell are fresh and they were good but the yams just look like mush, like the chef chewed it up and spit it back on the plate. The yams also just tasted like straight up cinnamon. I felt like I was doing the cinnamon challenge.
The chef needs to sit down and make another game plan because that food is not it. It’s no possible way he tastes the food either to make sure it’s where it needs to be because the only good was the green beans and that’s sad....
Read moreI was riding around looking for food all day and every where I went was closed. By this point I’m starving and I don’t want nothing that I’m going to regret and as I’m sitting thinking about what I’m going to eat I come across somebody with a plate from Geraldine and Eula Mae’s.
