Update: I'm editing my original score due to manager reaching out to rectify the situation. Every business makes mistakes, how you respond to the negative review is what makes the difference. Due to this I am willing to give the restaurant another shot in the future.
Original review: Got a conch meal today and I'm not exaggerating when I say that at least 90% of the fried conch was RANCID, as soon as I opened the plate I could smell the sourness so there is NO WAY that the cook did not know that they were frying spoiled conch!!! Absolutely disgusting smh. Never coming to hooks again after this and what's crazy is I preferred them over snappers in the past. Used to come to this hooks on 441 frequently to get the fried conch but hadn't been since the new year. I KNOW what their fried conch tastes like very well, this mess was sour truly. I bit into a few to make for certain that the smell wasn't just a smell and they had a distinct sour taste. At that point I started smelling them all individually to pinpoint pieces that WEREN'T sour and there was maybe 4 pieces total that were edible. They smelled normal and tasted normal, the rest were of...
Read moreI recently visited Hook Fish and Chicken, and sadly, it was a disappointing experience. The food was both overcooked and overpriced. We tried a variety of menu items, including the conch salad, which tasted overwhelmingly like tomatoes, masking any conch flavor. The fried catfish, snapper filet, and shrimp were all rubbery and dry, clearly overcooked, and desperately needed hot sauce to add any flavor. The cocktail sauce was another letdown, tasting more like ketchup than anything else.
We also tried the sweet tea, which had a very strange flavor that didnât sit well with us, and the mango pineapple drink, which was way too sweet to enjoy.
On the positive side, the fried okra and mushrooms were well-cooked and enjoyable. However, those few highlights weren't enough to make up for the overall poor quality of the meal.
With so many seafood restaurants available, I regret spending almost $60 here. I wish I had chosen a different restaurant. I wonât be returning and can't recommend...
Read moreThe catfish wasn't nearly as tasty as it has been at other Hook stores in the past. The service was good, but I was the only customer there. For some reason, this Hook will not come up on Google unless you put the address in. I even Googled "Hook near me" while in the parking lot, and the other Miami Gardens store came up. The insides of the store DEFINITELY need some TLC. It's in bad need of a good painting, and there is a long, dark hallway leading to the restroom (which had no soap whatsoever, not even a dispenser). I love Hook, but this store, aside from good service, is a huge step down from any other Hook...
