The owner of this place, Frank is AMAZING, his warmth spirit stands out. And the two ladies that work there are super sweet. The quality of the products are among the best, the decoration is cozy and prices are very good, UNFORTUNATELY the butcher and cook NOT so much. Two times in a row we had experienced his bad attitude and rudeness. The first time, he made a disappointing face when I told him I didn't want to cut my meat with the thickness he wanted, I told him to make the cuts thinner and he looked at me like I was wrong. The second time, we brought rice milk for a Cappuccino since Frank told us to feel free to bring our own milk because we don't do dairy. Again, the guy made a "WTF FACE" and criticized our milk. Then, he improvised an unwelcoming lecture about the milk like if we didn't know how it's made. When we said that Frank invited us to bring our own milk, he changed a little, but NOT much. When we asked if the lentil soup had pork in it, he launched this sort of scolding speech praising the chorizo Español in the soup, adding that lentils without it are not good. We told him in the presence of another customer, that we make lentil soup with chicken or turkey sausage. He replied: "if you do it with chicken, throw it away" (bótalo!). This is not only rude, he doesn't know who is he talking to. It happens that we both are cooks, but in any case, the customer has the right to buy and cook the products he or she wants, not somebody telling you that you are wrong the way you are doing it. In fact, he offered a sample to smell the soup and we agreed that smelled really good and probably tasted good as well. The difference is that we didn't say "pork is wrong". We had read other comments and noticed that this guy is been EXCUSED, with arguments not related to the customer's complains, basically not addressing the issue. This guy may be a wonderful cook but his attitude doesn't match Frank's cordiality. We know the nuances in Spanish very well, so it doesn't matter if you are Cuban, Dominican, Mexican, Colombian or Argentinian, this is not about cultures, nationality or race. Acts of rudeness and disrespect are undeniably clear in ALL languages. We expressed our discomfort to the sweet lady with long pony tail. Changing the perception of our experience in favor of another version from the employees won't help...
Read moreStopped in because me and my girlfriend were craving venison and remembered we saw a sign that said they sell venison burgers. We got one venison burger, and one wagyu burger. Honestly I was really happy with the presentation, next time I'll get a pic. Was pleased with the venison burger for sure, the wagyu wasn't my favorite but it was not bad for the price at all. Our server was incredibly friendly, and served me just the way I prefer. The meat selection in the store seemed nice as well, stocked with elk, alligator, boar, etc. I will say, I don't think anyone in the store at the time I was there spoke English, so if you don't speak any Spanish, ordering may be tricky. The location was pretty charming, definitely clean. The dining area is just small, and in the middle of the store so it felt a little awkward to me, but everyone was very accommodating! Their kitchen was being renovated when we went so they made our burgers in the oven. Definitely wanna give another shot when they finish the kitchen. Go get a venison...
Read moreMy favorite meat market, cafeteria and wine store in Miami Lakes! On the contrary to many reviews here are posting before me are not being fair to the guys that work there. Thankfully I did get to meat them personally. Every time I go there the are amazing people and cordial. You just got to know they are traditional Cuban's that mean well but may rub off a little rude. And yes I have to agree that was my first impression of them, but I after I took the time to meet them and know them a little better my impression of them was totally different. By the way they are not the only workers there, there are two other young ladies that work there that are very friendly and helpful. My overall experience at this Meat Market / Cafeteria was of a warm welcome, good quality service and great wines at a great price. The ambiance also of great up-beat music made it for an even better experience. I encourage you to give this place a try, we need business in Miami...
