I gave you 5 stars over a year ago! I am finally giving you a well deserved feedback. I live right outside of San Francisco, CA.
I can't begin to explain how much I miss shopping at your Costco. You always looked for me, and I am sure for your other customers. I have so many positive shopping memories, and I wish I had the same familiarity with the Costco's I have visited here in CA.
I remember: Buying a bag of carrots, and the cash register person telling me they appeared questionable and asking a supervisor to get me a new bag. WOW.
Buying an outfit for my newborn ( at the time) and the person who was placing stuff in my cart alerting me that the outfit was missing the pants and indeed, I had dropped them somewhere near the freezer section.
While my son was crying loudly, being told by register rep to stay near the baby while he rung me up and he even let me run my card from the other side while I soothed my child. He even made sure to send someone outside with me, which is a rare occurrence at any store now a days. ( Opposing example of Costco In San Francisco, CA while trying to soothe my now toddler son who pinched his little finger between two carts, the register person very curtly asked me to go around. I said of course, in a moment. This employee actually stopped ringing me up and said "NO, NOW!" and I was so peeved, I responded with a "NO, WAIT" and he called a supervisor and literally stopped ringing me up meanwhile there was a line of at least 5 people behind me and my son began crying louder. Supervisor came by, and said something to the effect of its not allowed to stand behind the cashier , blah, blah, blah and I just ignored them until my son felt better. Once the supervisor got a clue that my kid was crying and hurt he actually said " ok, we will allow it this one time") ARE YOU KIDDING? The rudest people at SFO Costco.
I visited Miami Lakes over the summer, and stopped by to pick up some stuff. I actually got a hug from a register person who recognized me and even asked me where I had been. I told him I moved to CA and he then said, I still see your mom stop by and always meant to ask her. It took moving across the nation, to realize how familiar Costco Miami Lakes really is, and especially how well run you guys...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCostco just opened it's new location around 145th & Biscayne Blvd. I love Costco and this new location one block from the old one is twice as large! It has everything we loved about the old store but even more items. There are a few plusses and also minuses that I've noticed however.
The pluses include a much larger store offering more items, larger parking lot, more new electric carts and self serve payment stations inside.
On the negative front, there are two roads leading into where Costco is located...via the FIU entrance road to the North and via the Target / US Post Office road to the South. The north entrance road intersects with US1/Biscayne Blvd. where there is a traffic light. Unfortunately the turn signal is timed very slow and there is always a serious backlog waiting to turn from either direction. 2nd, the FIU entrance road is two Lane and heavily traversed making it more difficult to enter or especially to exit the property. The entrance road into Costco's parking lot is very narrow and the gas station is very difficult to get to from here. Despite more parking, this place still gets jammed so best time to go is to arrive before 10am on weekdays only...NOT WEEKENDS!
Another issue I found is that I used to be able to phone in my pizza or food order from the back of the store, which can still be done however, you can no longer pay for your food at the register! Instead, they have the ordering line and a new self service ordering kiosk....BUT DON'T CALL AND THEN THINK YOU CAN PAY AT THE KIOSK...IT WILL CAUSE A DOUBLE ORDER!!!
This problem I have communicated is that now you either have to wait in line or order and pay at the kiosk and then wait 15-20mins. for your pizza or food to be ready. Naturally the pizza will take longer but if you must wait, each person can take up one of the tables reserved for eating, not waiting!
Proposed solution....option #1: continue allowing order and payment at the register...Option #2:. Come into the store and go directly to the self serve kiosk, then go shopping and then pick up your cold pizza or food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been a Costco member for over 10 years, with the membership under my fatherās and my name. My wife and I have shopped there countless times, and we've generally had good experiencesāuntil now.
Recently, we went to the Optical department located at this Costco warehouse so my wife could get an eye exam for contact lenses and glasses. The exam itself went fine, no issues there. But when we went to place the order, the Optics manager told us she couldnāt make a purchase because she wasnāt a member. I explained that Iām the primary on our vision insurance, and sheās fully covered under my plan, but the manager insisted the service was only for members.
Not only was the refusal frustrating, but the way we were treated made the situation even worse. The manager was dismissive and rude, as if we were trying to get away with something rather than just trying to buy glasses. Hoping for some clarity, I went to customer service, and they confirmed that only members could use insurance for eyewear. However, they said my wife could place an order if we paid out of pocket. At that point, the whole thing felt so inconsistent and unnecessary that I decided to take my business elsewhere.
We left and went straight to Samās Club, where I also have a membership. Despite the exact same situationāwhere Iām the member, and my wife isnātāthey had no problem processing the order using our insurance. The experience was smooth, and we were treated with respect.
Costco lost me as a customer that day, and Samās Club just gained a more loyal one. If youāre considering Costco for optical services and your spouse isnāt on the membership, be aware of their strict policies. Personally, Iāll be taking my business somewhere that values both good service and...
