I've been to Roney's three times now, and I really want to like the place and see them succeed, but I think I'm giving up.
The first time I went, I ordered the roast beef. It comes plain on a bun. I was offered a condiment cup, so I said sure, Once I had a chance to open up the sandwich, I realized I had to make it myself. There was no seasoning or anything. So I fixed it up and ate it.
The second time, I ordered a chicken sandwich. The picture looked good covered in sauce, so I thought I'd try it. I was offered a condiment cup and BBQ sauce. I pulled away and opened it up and just a dry, tasteless chicken breast on a bun. I add all the condiments and the sauce and ate it.
The third time, I tried the cheeseburger. I pulled through and drove off and got a few lights away and realized I wasn't offered any condiments. I opened the bag and, as I expected, a dry, unseasoned burger on the bun and nothing else.
I guess my point is, if I have to do everything to make my food except warm it up, then why buy it at a drive-through? I can warm up a chicken patty at home, use a nice bun, put on all the condiments I like, and have a tasty sandwich. If I have to do all that at a drive-through, what time saving or convenience am I getting? And if I forget to ask for condiments, all I get is a dry, tasteless, unseasoned burger for over 10 bucks. I think I'd rather risk the food poisoning at McDonald's. At least I'd get pickles, mustard, and ketchup.
If you want to create your own sandwich every time you go to Roney's, that's great. I just want something I can unwrap and eat on...
Read moreIssues with the breakfast buffet on Sunday, to start they give you one small styrofoam plate and said if you need another just come to the counter, no one else behind the counter so you have to wait through the line of people waiting to place their order to get another plate? My first time through the line for food there was no bacon, no sausage, no goetta sliders, no eggs, the guy in front of me was scraping the corners of the pan for what eggs were left, there was a line for the food the entire time and they have covers on every selection on the steamtable? Just an inconvenience covering up empty pans, when something would come out from the kitchen it was gone right away. Hopefully they correct...
Read moreI had high hopes, but was very disappointed. When we pulled in the parking lot on a Friday evening about 5:30), there was only one car parked (now I know why). My wife and I got unsweet tea and it tasted very old. I went up to the counter and asked if they had any in the back that might be fresher. I was told they can make more, but it probably will come out the same because "that's just their tea". I assume the dispenser isn't cleaned out. My wife said her hamburger was okay but not great. Not many fries at all and they were simply okay as well. I had a roast beef sandwich with a side of baked beans. Neither had much flavor at all. Definitely not...
