I'm a carnivore but I also love my veggies, especially when they are disguised to look or taste like real meat. Roots Miami Kava did justice with their meatless creations at the Spring Roots event collab with @TryThisMiami (IG) Folks, I'm now a believer!
This dining experience featured a prix fixe menu so guests could sample the different vegan concoctions offered by Roots. We started with a toast of some kava drink. Honestly, it was a little muddy for my taste but then again, this was my first time tasting kava. The first item on the menu was the Chicken Tenders. I couldn't even tell the difference. It was super crunchy too. Next was the Beef and Bean Empanada. Freshly baked, flaky and piping hot. The third one was the Angry Mac. This was my favorite. It was simply superb. The pasta was al dente and a good amount of gooey cheese. It was super tasty that I got another bowl to take home :) The fourth one was House Slider with Fries. Another favorite of the night. Fries were perfectly crisp and the slider was scrumptious. Last of course was the dessert but I was surprisingly so full so I skipped it and gave it to a friend. I'm sure it was also delicious because everything before that was just that. This prix fixe menu was only $31 and it was more than enough.
I'm glad that I was able to experience this event. Roots Miami Kava is on 2nd Ave but going opposite of Wynwood so it's not on the busy strip. I'm telling you, folks, it's worth the detour. Besides the tasty vegan food and variety of kava drinks, they also have live performances or open mic on some nights. I will definitely come back so I can educate myself more on kava plus get an Angry Mac...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh man where do I begin. For starters I've been coming to Roots before they changed locations and through its various changes I'm still impressed by its environment and sense of community.
Every place has its ups and downs, especially a new business and 3 years is still a brief period for an establishment to get on its feet. Root Miami Kava & Eatery has definitely been through the ropes but none the less has maintained it standard of making everyone happy.
"Leave your drama at the door" is the first sign you see before stepping foot inside its walls to set the tone of what this place is all about. With relaxing herbal beverages, a vegan kitchen, and quirky but fun staff Root's delivers and experience most places should aim for. Though I promised I wouldn't write an essay for this review, its the least thing I can do for a place I call a...

The unassuming and easy going owners are often on hand at the establishment to greet you with a warm smile and will eagerly educate you on the nuances of Kava culture. The staff are all very friendly and quick with a good laugh. The vegan fair by Rodrigo and Zach is eclectic and delectable. More than just a Kava bar and eatery, the place also boasts a small stage for local acts to perform and many different themed nights for varied performers. It is truly a place where the easygoing atmosphere promotes lighthearted socializing. Connections are made and sustained here. Come on by and expand your horizons!!
