I’ve driven by this restaurant thousands of times and in the years I’ve lived in Miami and have told myself I should check it out sometime and finally did last night. And boy do I feel like I’ve been missing out. It’s a real shame they don’t have more customers these days because the food and the service is incredible. Prices are reasonable-ish, especially for Miami. And it’s one of the few dining experiences I’ve had in the city in recent years where I don’t feel like I got ripped off, that I could’ve made it better at home, and that in general, it was overhyped and overpriced for no reason. I have certainly spent a lot more money on significantly less satisfying meals in this city.
The decor, ambience, and food transported me right back to Greece. If only the food could be just as cheap as it was there though 😂 but I understand that wouldn’t be practical.
The marinated Half chicken was some of the best chicken I’ve ever eaten at any restaurant in my life. Yes, it’s that good. The flavor was incredible. For 28 bucks it’s enough food for two people to share. The rice that it came with was also excellent, and impressive, considering that most restaurants serve rice on the side as a formality, but never feel like they put that much effort into it
We also had the fried calamari which was solid and the tomato sauce that it came with, was again higher quality than expected
And the Greek salad (the authentic one, not the one with lettuce) was really good, colorful and big enough to share for two people easily. But I will say $21 for it is a little excessive given there’s probably fewer than seven dollars worth of ingredients in it and they likely make it in large batches. But I suppose they have to make up their margins somewhere. So I can’t be too mad.
Our waiter was incredibly friendly and jovial and provided excellent service as well
All in all I really hope this place doesn’t get bought out and turned into a Starbucks or something because it would be a real drag for the city to lose such a genuine place for locals that doesn’t require a down...
Read moreThis is literally a joke as a restaurant. Don't go.
I asked for THE LARGE Greek salad, the pork souvlaki and the fried calamari.
I asked first for the LARGE Greek Salad and I even asked if it was not too big (silly) the waiter (there are 6 waiters and 2 tables only but they won't see you to attend) said it was OK for 2... The salad and the calamari supposed to arrive together before the main course (the souvlaki) but they forgot to bring the calamari and arrived after asking with great difficulty for a waiter couple of times after the main course (tried to cancel but they bring it just when I finished the main course and I was asking to cancel and I kept it.
Salad arrived first and literally was a 5 inch oval plate, and has nothing at all to do with Greek anything. 13 dollars. It is a bed of lettuce like the one they put in a big Mac, over, 3 thin slices of Roma tomato (small) 2 olives with seed (I'm not kidding) and shredded feta cheese (maybe 1 gram?) with 2 or 3 drops of vinager... Completely laughable, 3 hours later at home, I was still laughing, thinking that it was somebody at the back of the restaurant laughing at the situation when happened ...
The souvlaki is 2 pins with 4 small pieces of pork grilled with no condiment at all, very dry and insipid over (again) a bed of lettuce (bigger than the one from the LARGE Greek salad with French fries (those horrible frosen ones from the super market) also insipid and Mah... 22 dollars!
The fried calamari is just Meh... Bedded deep fried with no condiment at all 2 slices of lime and the sauce for deep-in, what do you thing? Something special Greek sauce? No... Cetchup! 15 dollars.
This restauran has cero effort for the food, the service is horrible and the prices are...
Read moreMy family and I have been coming here for years. This would be where we would stop for dinner after a day at the beach. We would get a table outside and it was always enjoyable. We went recently and it has definitely changed hands. The menu has changed, and prices have increased a lot. We had about 3-4 different servers that all kept coming around repeatedly asking all the same questions. It was overwhelming. The staff also seemed incompetent and inexperienced. One of the servers apologized without us even mentioning anything and said us servers keep coming over because the manager keeps telling them to. They seemed stressed and uncomfortable. It made us feel the same way. The food was always good here, but again they have clearly re-branded or changed hands. The pita was charred and tough. The lamb chops were extremely over-cooked and tough to eat. The meat platter we had was all over-cooked. I’ve grown up eating Greek food, and I’ve never had over-cooked lamb chops. The manager asked if we asked to have it prepared at a low temperature. 🤦🏻♂️ We did not. Never have I ever had to make such request. The Greek restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of eating at have always perfectly cooked lamb. It’s always been falling off the bone tender. The lamb chops here were charred, tough and destroyed. Their Greek salad was missing olives and feta cheese. That’s not an authentic Greek salad. 😔 This was my first meal all day. What a let down. After coming here for years, with a good amount of time between each visit, we were shocked with our experience and will never return. Sad, because this was our go-to spot. Sometimes things change...
