I had high hopes for my second order from AmyCakes, but I was unfortunately really let down. They had done a nice job with the cake and cookies that I had ordered last year for my daughter’s first birthday, so I was confident, as a return customer, that a much simpler cake for my son’s 7th birthday would be no problem. Boy, was I mistaken! I had contacted them for a custom order. A galaxy style round cake to serve around 40 people for a Star Wars themed party. I have included a photo of what I sent as a reference photo vs what I received so that you can compare for yourself. In my emails, I specifically mentioned the colors, the splatter design for the stars and that “Happy Birthday, my son’s name!” Be written on the cake board. I was told it would be no problem and was quoted 92 dollars. That may seem steep, but I gladly would’ve paid that for what I requested. When I went to pick up the cake, I was honestly shocked! I have a professional patisserie background and have worked in bakeries before. To me this looked rushed, homemade and nothing like what I had requested. I honestly would’ve been embarrassed to let a client walk out the door with it. Elements were missing such as the writing on the cake board and the star splatter pattern. It just looked like a sad, black cake with primary color red and blue smeared on. I am an understanding person and if what I had requested wasn’t possible, I would’ve appreciated communication on that. Unfortunately, I had zero time to figure out an alternative before the party. It was this cake or no cake at all, so I had no choice but to pay and leave. When I got home I sprayed the cake with edible silver spray paint and added edible silver glitter stars to fix it up. Along with the cute themed cake toppers I had, it looked a lot better after some doctoring, but I’m disappointed I even had to do that. Especially because I paid almost one hundred dollars for it! Thankfully, the cake at least tasted great, I will give them that. The yellow cake, cookie dough filling and butter cream frosting were delicious. However, next time I will just make the cake myself. As a busy working mom it seemed worth it to outsource it to a place that I had success with once in the past, but I cannot risk gambling with the inconsistency next time. I don’t usually take time to write reviews for things, but parties are stressful and expensive and I felt that sharing my experience was valid.

Back in April/May I tried ordering a cake for my dad's 70th birthday and they turned me away. But, the way they were very professional and polite about it really sat well with me. So I just ordered my mom's 70th and gave them a week or so more advanced notice. Offered an idea and told them to use as much artistic freedom as they pleased. Picked up the cake the day of the party and was blown away. The design was simple but elegant, two tier chocolate with some chocolate filling. This is where it gets better, I needed "70" candles and they had some that were just not quite the right color scheme. Well Amy herself happened to hear me chatting with the cashier about it and offered some color appropriate "70" candles. That personal touch from the owner really sat well with me. Fast forward to the party: chocolate cakes in my opinion are usually dry and crumbly by the time they're eaten. Well not this cake. Moist, appropriately delicate and the buttercream frosting was the perfect ratio. The filling was perfect and everyone loved it. Folks at the party were all clamoring for where it came from and I was more than happy to let them know I got my cake from Amy. Thank you so much for making my mom's 70th, it was incredible and a centerpiece for the party.

I regrettably chose Amy’s Cakes for my sister’s Baby Shower. I had reached out months ago to inquire about her making a cake and provided details. The response never suggested that would be an issue. A follow up email outlying the details was sent and I was under the impression my request was a non issue. Fast forward to the day of pick up and immediately panic set in as this was the parties focal point. The product was not similar to the references provided. I left the shop, cried ,collected myself and called the shop. I was met on the other line with ‘I’m sorry there is nothing we can do you left the shop with the cake already,it requires fondant and there is not enough time to dry,the color was what you sent and how it showed up on our end meaning the baker. The best they could do was a $20 refund for a cake that cost $156 and looks nothing like what i asked for. I had to scrap the cake and then scramble to purchase Nothing Bundt Cakes. Myself as well as other family members who were part of planning this special day we’re all in agreement that the cake was not useable. If I’m being fair, I would say if you want a beautiful cookie that Amy’s cakes are wonderful for that.. if your looking for a cake look elsewhere.

I did not receive what I ordered. It took 2 weeks to get a refund (which was partial). Finally received an email stating i, the customer, was wrong. On January 9, 2018 @ 12:04 pm I went into Amy Cakes to place an order for my daughter's 1st birthday. I ordered (with Amy) a smash cake with turquoise blue frosting and gold writing. I also ordered 12 orange color frosted ,vanilla cupcakes & 12 turquoise blue frosted, chocolate cupcakes. I arrived on February 9 @5pm to pick up the order. The order was wrong and before I stated it was wrong the employee (unknown name) TOLD ME they were wrong and "hoped it was ok". All the cupcakes and the smash cake was frosted a dark teal, almost hunter green color. She said "the order says orange but I didn't know what was suppose to be orange so would like us to use some orange sprinkles instead?". I said, "no because that is not what I ordered". So she told me she would take the vanilla ones and redo them if I could wait about 5 minutes. So I agreed to that because I was in a hurry to get set up for my daughter 1st bday party. She took them in the side room, SCRAPED OFF the dark teal/green icing and topped it with a pastel orange/almost peach color. She brought them back and asked me to sign a contract stating I would not ask for Refund once I left the store with my purchase. I really did not have a choice as I was on my way to my daughters party. The cupcakes still had dark teal/green frosting ALL OVER them along with the orangey color (and all over the container, which made it so messy to carry). We took them home and ate them because it was party time. I answered a billion questions that night such as "why do they look like that?". I promptly sent an email to Amy Cakes and Cookies on February 9 @ 6:45pm. I stated exactly what the problem was and I even stated I was aware of the contact. I also told her that she should have iced new cupcakes instead. I asked for a full refund anyway because she obviously did not follow through with the correct order. She did not reply to my email until February 12th. And to my knowledge it was not Amy(or whomever the owner may be) responding it was another employee. They stated,"I am sorry that your order was not taken correctly, and therefore not done correctly in the first place. This is not typically an issue that we ever have and I am so sorry that it happened with your order, I'm sure it was an inconvenience that you were not expecting. Because of the original mistake and then it not being corrected properly, I would be happy to offer you a partial refund for your order or a store credit - whichever you prefer. Again, I am SO sorry about your experience - we never want to disappoint customers on the day of a big event, especially a first birthday!". It all sounded so good, right?! I replied shortly after and told her that was fine. I sent another email on the 20th because I had not received my partial refund. My email stated that I would be down soon to discuss my FULL refund since no one has taken action or updated me. I told them the were a joke and should be embarrassed. Whomever replied to my last email decided to be not so customer friendly and that sent me through the roof. "The owner had a death in the family and has been busy. Wehave never had such a horrible experience with a customer" and then began to tell me my refund was given and to take any other issues up with Square. VERY POOR customer service ALL THE WAY AROUND. The cupcakes were merely mediocre to begin with. Nothing to be so...

Very disappointed with my experience at Amy Cakes. I pre-ordered a 14” custom cookie cake for a birthday and when I went to pick it up today and the presentation of the cookie cake did not look good. The writing looked like it was done by a child rather than a profession cake decorator. The writing was scrunched in one part of the cake, font size was not consistent, there were not spaces between the words, and the words were written at a slant. I asked for it to be fixed and the young lady at the front went to talk to a decorator. She returned and told me the decorator said the icing would have stained and it was best to just leave it as it is and they could give me a $10 refund. Considering I paid almost $60 for a chocolate chip cookie I would have preferred to have it fixed. The taste of the cookie was also not up to par. The cookie tasted like it was made up of almost all flour and was very spongey. I also purchased a cup cake and a cosmic brownie treat when I picked up my order. I looked at my bank account since I was not offered a receipt and I was charged TWENTY DOLLARS for cosmic brownie treat and ONE cupcake. The girl at the counter said she overcharged me. They would not refund the $10 for the cookie cake while I was at the store nor would they refund the $10 I was overcharged for the additional treats. They told me I would have to wait two days to get a refund and I would need to call if I didn’t receive it when I should have received it at the store. Was also made to sign a paper which read I was satisfied with the order (when I was not) and the girl at the desk said it was just stating that I picked up the order. I was trying to support a local business by ordering from Amy Cakes but will not be ordering again after the poor customer service and subpar...
