Walking into the Boston Tavern feels like stepping into a nostalgic embrace of hometown pride and camaraderie. The walls are adorned with iconic Boston sports memorabilia, each piece sparking memories of legendary moments, from game-winning home runs at Fenway Park to unforgettable touchdowns at Gillette Stadium. For locals, it’s a walk down memory lane; for visitors, it’s an authentic taste of Boston culture. The inviting warmth of the tavern is matched only by its menu, which offers hearty American fare that satisfies every craving. From juicy burgers and crisp wings to comfort classics like clam chowder and steak tips, every dish feels like it’s been crafted to please both the appetite and the soul. The drinks flow generously, with an impressive lineup of beers on tap, perfect for pairing with the game or simply unwinding with friends. The Boston Tavern isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a gathering place. Whether you’re catching a local band on a Friday night, cheering on the Sox or Bruins on one of the many TVs, or sharing stories over dinner with family, the atmosphere is electric yet grounded, offering the perfect balance of excitement and comfort. It’s also a fantastic place to meet new friends. With its friendly vibe and shared love of Boston sports, conversations start easily, and before you know it, you’re cheering alongside someone who feels like an old pal. It’s a place where everyone seems to know each other—or soon will—where the bartender remembers your favorite drink, and where every corner of the room whispers a story of Boston pride. The Boston Tavern is more than a local favorite—it’s a cherished part of the community, where memories are made, friendships are formed, and celebrated every day. Five stars, without hesitation.

Seems like when Boston tavern was sold to become brecks tavern it went downhill. Ate there today ( mother's day) let me start with the reservation. Made a reservation well over a week ago for standard seating at 2:00 pm, checked in told us they had a high top, that was not what I reserved, so OK took that sat outside. Waited at least 20, minutes for any one to acknowledge us. Ordered drinks and meal took at least another 20 minutes for the meal. We both ordered a fish meal. Wife ordered fish and chips I ordered the cod filet. Her fries were soggy and lukewarm like they have been sitting awhile. The coleslaw was flavorless. My meal the cod with breadcrumbs was dry as was the mashed potatoes. Best part of the meal was the drinks and green beens. First time in years that I did not take and unfinished meal home it was that bad. We were a frequent patrons of Boston tavern for several years eating there several times a month. Most of the menu is now gone, no specials everyday. So we will not return. Too many quality restaurants in the area to waste my money in sub par food.

I went there with my dining companion on a whim as we happen to be in Middleborough. We decided to give the Boston Tavern a try. We ordered the Arancini and the Fried Calamari as an appetizer . The Arancini were very flavorful but a tad over cooked. The calamari was mediocre as the batter fell off the fish and was soggy -not crunchy in any way. We then ordered the Steak Tips brushed with a sweet chili sauce which were very tender and delicious. The String Beans were cooked perfectly crisp-tender and the Baked Sweet Potato came dressed with butter and brown sugar. My partner ordered the Fisherman’s Platter which was very good. A nice portion. Unfortunately once again though , the batter fell off the scallops and shrimp. The onion rings and french fries were good. The atmosphere there was nice, all of the staff were wearing masks and we felt very safe. Our barperson was very cordial and made a superb Martini.

Now let me tell you, if this was in NJ, we wouldn’t accept this. I don’t want to be harsh writing this but there was MANY flaws when my friend who lives locally took us here to eat. 1) communication here must be awful because getting our drinks to food was ALL over the place. We order our drinks and got our food ordered with an app, everything seems alright until it slowly started to fall. So we have the app pizza that comes out before our drinks somehow by some other person who didn’t know what they were doing so they just said “uh pizza?” And we just had to assume what it was when he put it down. Then we happen to get our drinks right after which is always weird at a restaurant, that’s just unacceptable. I work at a 4+ star restaurant with basic food cooking and was surprise how badly they put out our food. We had 3 people sitting, and my food came out first, and that’s it, then another 15 mins my girlfriend gets her meal (which happen to be made wrong and without the ricotta cheese which IS the pizza meal... crazy) and our local friend didn’t get her meal for another 15 mins. Why did they serve 3 people dishes at different times equals bad kitchen, from my experience. 2) the food was edible, but portions were bad, I got shrimp scampi pizza and it’s just shrimp here, big tomato pieces here, not even portion at all, just sloppy. I gotta say Mass. is a beautiful area when I come up, but I rather prefer my NJ food any day of the week compare to this. I spent $80 at a red lobster and that’s a chain place and it was INSANELY better then $80 I spent here.. Work smarter, communicate better, this place as...

I am a bit disappointed, as we go to this establishment almost every weekend and spend upwards of $100 per visit. Yesterday, 3/27/21 I was taken out to dinner for my birthday (which is on the 29th) I ordered the 20 Oz ribeye, which is usually great. They brought all our food, and when I cut into my steak, it was literally all fat. I never even got one bite. Sent it back, the manager took almost 20 mins getting to us, and by then everyone else was annoyed and didn't want to finish their dinner either, and I was all set at that point. The manager was nice, apologetic, and removed the steak from the bill, to which I replied, I sure hope so, that steak should've never even been in this place, or ever served. It screwed up the entire birthday dinner, and they STILL brought us a $93 bill, less my steak. Seriously? The manager could've done better and knocked some of that off, because I never even got my dinner. It could've been easily avoided, had they not served me a giant piece of fat. I hate having to give a mediocre review over one bad experience, but like I said, it could've been avoided, and handled SO much better than it was. But we were left at the table for almost 20 mins before the Mgr came along. Far as I see it, that bill should've been cut down, or they should have acted a bit faster. Us sitting for almost 20 mins waiting on word about my dinner, was ridiculous. Will not return, simply because of the poor handling of the situation. That's over $100 every weekend, now will...
