Not what I was expecting. Growing up in Chicago we have real Italian delis. This is really just a sub sandwich shop. They had a few pasta and potato salads in the case and some items on shelves. An Italian deli has in its case at least 2 different kinds of the following just for starters mortadella ,prosciutto, Italian sausages, provolone and mozzarella, etc. I ordered 2lbs of the mortadella that they did have sliced paper thin. This allows the meat to combine with the air on an open faced sandwich to enhance its flavor. The guy that sliced the meat looked pissed that his co-worker actually asked him to do something. After watching the little pouty faced kid make it obvious that this was beneath him, I told him 1lb was good enough because I just wanted to get out of there. Every dinner party recipient raved about the menu and it was, hands down, the easiest meal ever since all I had to do was heat up the lasagna and garlic bread.
