Gino's Italian Deli — Restaurant in Middleton

Not what I was expecting. Growing up in Chicago we have real Italian delis. This is really just a sub sandwich shop. They had a few pasta and potato salads in the case and some items on shelves. An Italian deli has in its case at least 2 different kinds of the following just for starters mortadella ,prosciutto, Italian sausages, provolone and mozzarella, etc. I ordered 2lbs of the mortadella that they did have sliced paper thin. This allows the meat to combine with the air on an open faced sandwich to enhance its flavor. The guy that sliced the meat looked pissed that his co-worker actually asked him to do something. After watching the little pouty faced kid make it obvious that this was beneath him, I told him 1lb was good enough because I just wanted to get out of there. As stated below - one of the best values in all of Madison. Recently, I picked up an entire dinner party menu there (busy tax accountant - no time to cook) - lasagna, garlic bread and salad. Every dinner party recipient raved about the menu and it was, hands down, the easiest meal ever since all I had to do was heat up the lasagna and garlic bread. In my opinion, the lasagna is the BEST I have ever had, including my own. I frequently stop for quick meals and each and every time, the food is awesome (husband's favorite is the Italian Beef). Down to business, quick and straightforward menu with lots of grab n’ go goodies. Many have said it, and that is what brought me here, but the lasagna is fabulous. Lots of really good sauce and the noodles have a sort of addictive spring to them that make you want to take another bite. If I weren’t perfectly full, I’d have another just for the chew. Yum!
