We stopped here for dinner one evening last week after some shopping at Greenway Cross and as it was the only restaurant in the area besides Ruth's Chris that was going to be open for more than another hour it was almost 8 p.m. I assume the early closures are lack of help due to restaurants still recovering from the pandemic. So anyway Monks it was and it was good it wasn't very busy we were seated promptly and our server got us started with water and drinks my companion said the gin and tonic was excellent I had a coke. We ordered cheese curds for an appetizer and while our server put in that order we checked out the menu my companion got the Monks French dip sandwich I choose the Crispy chicken Mac n cheese. Our curds were brought out and they were hot and excellent and our food order was taken. Our entrees were out fairly quickly and they were both very very tasty with 2 caveats the bun part of my companions French dip sandwich was soggy from it sitting open and the meat spread across it and the au jus which was in a small plastic cup having spilled on it but she said it was still very tasty the other caveat is also small my crispy chicken Mac n cheese was great except the barbecue sauce for the chicken was swirled around the whole dish I would fix this problem in the future and ask it be put on the side as I said a small thing. It was a very good meal our server was excellent and I would go here next time I was in the area and it wouldn't be my last choice because everything else was closing before them....
Read moreOoooh!!!! What a great place and a delightfull experience! After a disappointing, (VERY VERY ) visit to the club tavern, I checked this place out for lunch! I am glad I did!
I sat at the bar for lunch. The bartender was awesome. He was very personable and had great knowledge of the menu. (I had some picky questions as usual!)
The only issue I had was with the menu. HUH? It had interesting selections but was missing some great staples! However, it did have some great vegetarian selections and interesting burger choices.
That being said, the bar keep suggested the special of the day which was a perch wrap. I was VERY impressed with the flavor! Wow! It was a "Wow" for sure! As a great bonus to this, the portion size was so large, i will be having a "two-fer" as I will be having an excellent supper!!
I will be returning for sure! The menu "sports", (yes they have sports on TV), some great "signature burgers" that look so large, I may need to un-hinge my jaw just to take a bite on my next visit!
At the end of this all, DO make a visit. I am normally a bit picky with my reviews, but I was hard pressed here to find anything I didn't like. I hope you find the same! ( No I don't know the owner and was not paid for this review like some reviewers here are paid by the owners to leave favorable reviews on Google. Oh you better believe...
Read moreJust came back from lunch with my son ….. (2) brisket burgers with waffle fries, a coke, and clam chowder = $50 with tip. Ridiculous and an utter robbery. Waffle fries were all nubs and pieces and was an up charge …. Burger was a frozen patty not even seared on both sides and certainly WAS NOT a 1/3lb burger! Brisket was some mush from the bottom of a crock pot. A single, paper thin slice of bacon. Clam chowder looked and tasted like Campbell’s soup. Waiter mixed up our order, receptionist tried repeatedly to seat us at a booth when we requested a table 3x. Perhaps it’s just me being unrealistic about service and food quality post Covid-19 but this inflationary cycle we are in the midst of is really causing restaurants to out price themselves. The food they served was worth $20 tops and I feel that’s generous based on the recent price hikes from fast foods. I seriously get better food from McDonalds or Culver’s and that is just sad. We will not be coming back to Monk’s and will stop patronizing restaurants in general. The value and poor service is just not acceptable to me. As patrons, we deserve better in quality and service. Their business model is a self-fulfilling prophecy of...
