On 2/15/2025 we took 11 Swan Pointe HOA Residents to Cottage Cafe. It’s located inside a Historical Home in Middletown, KY. They have backyard parking behind the Beautiful Yellow Restaurant and you walk right into the dual purpose room -the Dessert Area and the Cashier’s Counter. We were seated in the Front Room. Susan Stivers, the owner came by the table to introduce herself, and the staff that would be assisting. Dante greeted us at the door Donna was our server that knew about every item on the menu. Brandon was the expediter, he delivered our drinks and our food. Tasha took care of our drink refills, and our glasses never got below 1/2 empty. The menu is 4 pages of wonderful choices. Traditional Sandwiches, Cafe Speciality Sandwiches, Salads, Soups, Kids Menu, Sides and DESSERTS! My husband and I got Hot Browns, one of our favorite choices. Several people got Pimento Cheese, Benedictine Cheese, Chicken Salad, Hamburgers, and they even had Pimento Cheese Burgers. I also remember seeing Salads, Soup and Turkey sandwiches. We really had a good time. Great service made it extra nice. Several people had desserts and ended up taking the leftovers home to finish. There was Key Lime Pies, Chocolate Cake, and almost an argument over who was going to get the last slice of Coconut Pie. My husband and I are going to go...
Read moreThe legend of the Christmas Club! The Cottage Cafe in downtown Middletown is a bit hard to explain. It's an odd old house, still broken up like a maze by small rooms, whose primary residents are flamingos. In business for 27 years, you can feel the stories pouring from the walls...and in some cases see them. So given the unique nature of this spot, I decided to venture outside of my comfort zone. Enter..the Christmas Club..piled high on three wheat slices is homemade benedictine, sliced cucumbers, red onion, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and their roasted red pepper spread for good measure! It was definitely more than a mouthful and a surprisingly pleasant treat. I added potato salad which was candidly pretty bland but who can complain when we're talking $7.50 with chips, a hardboiled egg and a pickle? Give them a try if you're in the area. The staff was great and your supporting a Louisville treasure. #thelouguru #thelougurureview #lougurutodo #cottagecafe #middletownfood #middletown #middletownky #LouisvilleFoodie #LouisvilleFood #LouisvilleEats #todointhelou #howwelou #christmasclub #benedictine #tatersalad...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing cakes and pies. Some recipes passed down from generation to generation. The best kept secret in Middletown, KY. This little cafe is run by the sweetest family. Their homemade chicken salad is scrumptious. Light yet tasty and filling. I can't tell you in words alone how decadent everything we purchased and tried was. Highly recommend going to eat here or picking up a nice desert. We purchased the strawberry jelly cake roll. Oh my it was melt in your mouth. If you want a cute story ask about the flamingos! I met Rachael and her mom and they are some really good people. They put their all into their products and reputation. Support you local small businesses but also worth the drive if you...
