Taco City Louisville-Middletown — Restaurant in Middletown

The food is OK, but seriously over-priced (IMHO). What was most disappointing was their “Bait & Switch” tactics on Taco Tuesday. Their online menu states under the “TACOS” heading, “Taco Tuesday: All Day $2.00”, and then proceeds to list ALL of their 22 tacos. There are no other explanations or clarifications beyond that, anywhere on the menu or in the restaurant. Sounds pretty good, since that’s less than half of their regular price. Our party took the time to pick out our tacos from the online menu in advance, since there’s usually a line. We selected more than usual, because it was Taco Tuesday. We stood in line at the counter and ordered our tacos along with other food and when I was given the total, it was about double what I was expecting. I asked if this was correct and was told that none of my order qualified for $2 tacos! (WTH) There was nothing on the online menu, or even their menu board on the wall that would indicate why. The person at the register said it’s only for maybe 4 specific tacos. He pulled out a menu from underneath the counter that I have never seen before, and showed me something on it that still didn’t make it clear what was included in this special. Do any customers ever even see this menu? I went ahead and paid for what we ordered since we were hungry, had already invested time choosing what we wanted, and didn’t want to hold up the line. I literally felt like a victim of unarmed robbery afterwards. Their “so what” attitude makes me think that this is not the 1st time that this has happened, and is likely a “Bait & Switch” that this establishment knowingly and routinely uses successfully. Most people either don’t even notice that they paid full price (no itemized receipt), or like us don’t want to hold up the line figuring out what the restaurant failed to disclose, to place a new order. They were completely unapologetic, and then even left off part of our order once we finally got our food. We were almost done eating by the time we eventually received our entire order. This is one Taco Experience that left a very bad taste...

Taco City Middletown, KY 9/18/2024

Last night 17 of the Residents of Swan Pointe HOA went to Taco City to have dinner. There had been a long line of tables set up for us from the front door to the bar to give us room to eat comfortably, that was nice. Several ordered chips and salsa to eat while they were looking over the menu. Everything on their menu looked really good and several of our friends at the table that had been there before were helping the others to decide what they wanted to order to eat. Several sitting close to me ordered the Carnita Tacos which was Pork that was wonderful! Quite a few ordered the steak tacos that were very good also! Another person at my table had the Carnita Burrito and said it was the best he had ever eaten and that he was going to come back and have it again soon. They also have a Kid’s Menu that had a really big Quesadilla with Cheese and a Burrito with chicken on it. The servers Eder and Ricardo really did a good job getting the food out to the tables. They were very fast and there were a lot of happy people eating the delicious food. Mary at the bar did a great job getting the Award Winning Margarita’s ready while it was still Happy Hour. She then did double duty and helped get the food to the tables. The noise level in the restaurant was low and we were able to talk to each other. All of the staff was very nice and helpful answering our questions. The portions were large enough that several took home some leftovers. The restaurant had a nice sized crowd the whole time that we were there and even as we were leaving. I heard many say that they would be going back again. Been here twice now and will return again soon. The food is very good and and so are the drinks. I am slowly working my way through the tacos because the portions are large. So far I have enjoyed the GRILLED COD TACO, VEGETARIANO, TINGA and CAJUN SHRIMP TACO. For me the tacos are a very good value for the price. I have gone through the frozen margaritas a little faster. The wife and I shared two flights so that we could sample all the flavors. While some I liked better than others, she like different ones than I did. A few friendly customers at the bar also had their opinions, which were different than ours. So I recommend getting a flight or two to pick your favorite. Seating outside, inside and at the bar. Order when you come inside at the counter and then find a seat. Take out is also available. Jenny behind the bar is awesome. Very attentive and knowledgeable with the drinks. ...
