My parents suggested we try Luna's. My family and I were hooked after the first visit. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are well-maintained. The menu has a great variety of selections and the food is very tasty! We sat down, ordered drinks, and the waitress dropped off fresh bread and a plate of olive oil. The olive oil also had Luna's spelled out in a balsamic drizzle. There's nothing like fresh bread and EVOO! We ordered the following: Calamari Fritti: The calamari was cooked well. It was very crunchy and tender. It came with a side of marinara. I do feel the mariana they use is a little ho-hum and bland. But, let’s be honest, you’re not ordering calamari for the marinara. Fried Brussel Sprouts: There was a heaping mound of brussel sprouts with a checkerboard of balsamic reduction drizzled across the plate. The sprouts also had a bit of grated parm on top. It seemed like the sprouts also had a balsamic drizzle on top as well. This was a bit disappointing, because I like my fried sprouts crispy. The balsamic, while tasty, made the sprouts a little soggy. I wish they put the drizzle on the plate and called it a day. This way the fried sprouts would still be crisp. Fried Ravioli: My daughter enjoyed the ravioli. She allowed me to try it. I thought the ravioli had a nice texture, but the filling inside the ravioli was a little on the skimpy side. It was like the ravioli inflated during the frying, but with so little filling you didn’t get that nice little pillow of ricotta when you cut into them. The sauce has lots of meat, but I felt it was also a little lacking in flavor. Luna’s Special Pizza (with no cheese): My one daughter doesn’t eat cheese, but loves her pizza. She enjoyed the pie and said it was very tasty. Grandmom Pizza: The grandmom pizza is like a Margherrita pizza (sauce, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil leaves) with garlic added. This pizza had a decent flavor, but the crust was a little under done for my taste. Grandma Pizza (Wood-Fired): This is the reason my wife and I love this restaurant. This is like the Grandmom pizza, except it is smaller, with a thinner crust, and wood-fired. The final touch they put on the pizza, after it comes out of the oven, is a drizzle of basil-infused extra-virgin olive oil on top. This is easily one of the best-tasting pizzas I’ve had in my life! I highly recommend it.
The family always departs Luna’s with full bellies and smiles on our faces. I will admit I am picky about my sauces! I am Italian and was raised in a family with excellent cooks. My grandmother always made sauce from scratch. We were spoiled as kids! The other members of my family are less-picky and enjoy all of Luna’s sauces. So, if you’re in the area, I’d recommend stopping in and trying the wood-fired pizza. You won’t be...
Read moreWhile visiting yesterday 7/28 I took a guest out for lunch. I am in the category of hi risk for covid. On entering the girl taking our order had her mask below her nose. I overlooked this gave the order and proceeded outside. She delievered the food still mask below nose. Mussels and broccoli rabe were very good. Pizza was good for Delaware. Decided to return that evening 7:30 again to eat outside. On entering the same girl had her mask below her nose the blonde had hers on properly. She explained in the evening a waitress would take the order.I noticed one waitress had her mask fully down and entered behind the counter. I mentioned this and then another waitress came towards us and pulled down her mask to speak to us. We proceeded outside and I decided I was not comfortable on how laxed they were. We placed an order to take out paid. While waiting there were 2 girls without mask and 1 who had hers under her chin and was touching her face and handling the wrapping of food . 1 girl towards the back put a towel she was using up against her mouth . They were clustered together with 3 men who did have mask on except a 4th who at the end of this process joined with no mask . I turned to the person I was with and asked if they saw what I was seeing they did. That was it for me we asked for a refund. The last man who entered the group without a mask who said he was 1/2 owner put the mask on as he approached. He gave excuses saying they didn't need mask on behind the counter. Well! I believe if they are not 6 ft apart mask on anywhere and what about the waitresses. Also clustered together is not acceptable that is why numbers are rising again and spreading. I think he needs to look into the guidelines. He finally agreed to do a refund but he should be more cautious and not make excuses at this time. At lunch I believe the other 1/2 owner or mgr. Was sitting at a booth with mask on. I would like to support local businesses at this time but only those who make peoples health a priority. And by the way I am 65 an essential worker and must wear a mask 8 hrs a day so I understand the challenge of...
Read moreI had ordered ahead for a party of 5. The service was pretty speedy when we arrived considering they were busy, but when we asked to dine-in after mentioning the order, we immediately got turned down with "we're pretty busy" as a reasoning for why we wouldn't be served despite being told we can sit if we needed to. Now this was a $123 order, and even though we asked for everything to be made close to our arrival (we gave a time frame for when we'd get there), ALL of the food was cold except the pizza sitting on the oven. We ordered fries, onion rings, seafood pizza and margarita pizza, Old Bay wings, mussels and clams, and two other dishes that didn't get eaten to completion because EVERYTHING was nasty. Heating the food up didn't do any justice for the lack of flavor in this order, which in hindsight seems to be the issue with this establishment. The pizzas barely had seasoning let alone a decent amount of cheese, the crab penne still had pieces of shell that I only noticed once I almost chipped a tooth on a bite, the wings taste like they were fried in Old Bay itself instead of being reasonably dusted (a diabetic's nightmare). Unfortunately, we had to share this with family in the house who also had a poor experience, and honestly I wish I hadn't. I'm glad we were only in the area for Adventureland, because this restaurant was a suggestion that I won't bring up to anyone again in the future. I'll personally contact Adventureland's owners to remove this restaurant from their front desk, because if there's THIS BIG of a discrepancy between quality and service for dine-in vs takeout, this location doesn't need to be advertised as if there's something to brag about.
TL;DR - This restaurant's food is about as good as the cardboard boxes and styrofoam cases they give you the dishes in. If there's this high a price on mediocre Italian food, someone needs to rewrite the recipe or ACTUALLY follow it to the T before someone gets...
