This review is for my latest experience at the Middletown DE location on 5/1/22. My family and I have been to this location a couple times. It’s usually a bit of a wait to be seated, but this time we waited about 45-50 mins to be seated. Our drink orders were taken and the waitress quickly returned with our drinks. We did not order appetizers but placed our entree orders right away, then waited….and waited…. And waited. We waited approximately an hour for our food to arrive. As soon as the food arrived we gave our waitress the card to pay the bill. We had two young children with us and had been there for over two hours already we figured we’d expedite the situation by paying right away. Big mistake. Calling my son’s macaroni and cheese luke-warm would be generous, my daughters chicken fingers were cold, and my steak was inedible. It tasted like whoever cooked it dropped the entire container of salt on to my plate. I tried to power through it because we were all so hungry from waiting so long, but about 1/4 of the way through it I couldn’t eat it anymore. At this point we asked to speak to a manager. I told her I understood (from speaking to the waitress) that they were understaffed in the kitchen and explained to her that I wasn’t looking for anything free, I had paid my bill already but I wanted her to know about what had occurred. When I told her about the steak and French fries that was sitting mostly uneaten her response was “I’m sorry. Only one other person has complained about the seasoning, but I’ll talk to the kitchen manager” which judging from that response I highly doubt was going to happen. I decided not to bring up the condition of my children’s food. It was just going to fall on deaf ears. My wife and I have both worked as waiter/waitress in the past and we know you can’t control what goes on back of house, but an hour wait for food you can’t eat? Then a manager who seemed not to care about our issues with the meal? That’s just unacceptable. To be clear we didn’t blame the waitress and we tipped 18% because she was as helpful as she could be in this situation, but we were completely unsatisfied with our experience and the response to it. My wife and I agreed that based on this we will probably not be returning to Texas...
Read moreWe come here about once a month for dinner. Recently, more often than not, we have to send a steak back from the table (usually 4 of us) because it's over cooked. I've never left a review because we're caught up in the conversation of our company and enjoy the night. Tonight was worthy of a review, though unfortunately a negative one. Service was pretty bleak, and I'll leave that there. A second server brought our food out, and I had to request utensils to check my steak. Usually ordering medium rare to rare, I thought maybe it was a bit over done by its dry appearance. Cutting it open, we guessed well done. No big deal, let's try again. Steak goes back, 15min later after the rest of our party had finished eating, a second steak came out. Burnt on the outside, raw inside. I don't want to complain again so I give it a go. Cutting into this tough piece of meat revealed mostly fat/gristle. Tried to make it work but was unable to chew the pieces I was able to saw through. No waitress in sight, we wait about 10 min before I see a manager on the other side of the dining room. I asked him to please come to the table. He takes a look at the steak and very casually states "huh, yeah this has been happening a lot lately,I don't know why they can't get it right". Says he'll take it off the bill. Server still no where in sight. One baked potato and side salad later, we head out. What a disappointment to drive 40 min to a steak house without being able to have a steak. I'm giving 2 stars merely for the the atmosphere and cleanliness. Would I recommend? At this point, sadly no I would not. Even more disappointing was the managers response when we brought it to...
Read moreMy family and I dined with the Texas Road Roadhouse (Middletown Location) for a Mother’s Day dinner, and unfortunately it wasn’t the pleasant experience typically consistent with our visits to this establishment. Our waiter was sweet which made our time there tolerable however we were immediately disturbed at the sight of 2 DEAD ANTS in our salt shaker. Given the state of the pandemic, you would think items such as salt and pepper would be closed assessed before seating people for meals. Upon showing the dead ants to the manager who made light of a serious situation, there was little regard for our discomfort after he analyzes the bugs laughing and saying “what the hell” in front of my elder parents and my small child. Our appetizer took over 40 minutes to come out to which when it arrived it was the wrong order bf that was also laughed off. Once our food arrived my daughters cheeseburger was so sloppily put together with only 2 bottom buns, and upon arrival of the rest of our food another ant crawled across the table. At this point we were fed up and brought it to the attention of 1 or 7 bus boys who chose to stand directly next to our table with there spray bottles and bus bins for the entire duration of our meal which was very invasive and uncomfortable as they blocked the entire aisle for other patrons with no regard. After this horrible experience, a military discount was given to our bill however this was a unacceptable situation that I personally feel should have been given more consideration as we have been repeat customers at this location for a while. Very dissatisfied and only giving 2 stars because the waiter was...
