Mindy's Place - Middletown RI — Restaurant in Middletown

We eagerly awaited the opening of Mindy's Middletown location, overtaking the old French Confection location.

The remodel is amazing, they utilized the space remarkably well, creating a clean and cozy - yet also somehow spacious - environment.

Our server, Avery, was very pleasant and attentive. For a Monday service, it was busier than expected and she was the only server on staff. Even still, Avery took great care of us.

My daughter ordered a hibachi dish, my son ordered phó, and I order 3 appetizers as my meal (my way of sampling a new spot). Each dish was fantastic and plentiful, of course we had leftovers!

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the non-alcoholic drink menu. My daughter ordered a Thai iced tea, my son a taro milk tea. We all loved these teas! Typically, places make them far too sweet and you're served a syrupy drink. These teas were as they were intended, earthy and lightly sweet. Perfection.

We ended our meal with a dessert sampling which was also delicious. The green tea ice cream was also earthy and lightly sweet, a big win for me. The triple chocolate mousse was decadent and again, lightly sweet, and the fried ice cream was a gorgeous fluffy balance of comfort food.

Despite eating a fair amount, we left with ample leftovers and not feeling at all stuff but deeply satisfied.

We will definitely return to sample ramen and sushi!

I have eaten at the Mindy’s in Portsmouth, and outside ambiance, I had a great experience. I was excited to try the new Mindy’s in Middletown. It was really a disappointment. I threw out most of my sushi. The tuna was rubbery, the soft shell crab had freezer burn, and my nigiri plate had a few funky pieces of fish. All the prices had gone up and the quality had gone down. As a person in the industry, I meet and talk to many people every day. So I will not only not return, I will definitely not recommend to guests at my bar. I basically threw out $100 in food...

My new favorite spot in the area - extremely flavorful food that is a step above other places for sure. I ordered the chicken chow fun, string beans with garlic, and Hunan chicken, and everything was excellent and fresh. I just moved from somewhere with excellent Chinese food and have been disappointed here until Mindy's opened. You can smell the wok hei as you walk in and it is reflected in the food. Will only order from here...
