5 stars for service. Our server, Venus, was amazing. My mother had walking issues and Venus was helpful, accommodating and kind. She listened and asked questions about our likes and dislikes and made appropriate recommendations. We are visiting Louisville on vacation and she gave us some wonderful tips, like her favorite park. The exceptional service we received from Venus was worth the trip. Request her if you stop in. Food was about a 4 star. My mom had a half dozen raw oysters which she enjoyed. We shared fried oysters, 8 in a basket with a side of seafood pasta. For our taste, the fried oysters were over cooked. The seafood pasta was a good side choice. We shared the grouper bites; they were good, lightly breaded, served piping hot. Finally, we shared the Dreamer Steamer Pot which included 4 snow crab legs, about 10 shrimp, about 10 mussels, 2 small sections of sausage, 4 small sections of corn, and a bunch of potatoes. This was very good overall, a couple adjustments would have been a bit better. The potatoes weren't as cooked as we like and lacked flavor. Smaller potatoes would have been better. They were also very heavy handed with the crab seasoning. It was quite spicy and my mom couldn't eat much of it due to the heat level. Had the gumbo as a side item. It was delicious. Highly recommend! The meal was pricey for 2, at $90. But we anticipated this as we wanted to sample a variety of their offerings. One thing did sour the visit and that was the behavior of another server. She came into her shift and was complaining to I assume the manager, in a near yelling voice, about another server or bartender, all within feet of our table. Hopefully, after venting, she was able to give her customers her best. In summary, our server Venus was way above average, the fried food was average, the gumbo and boiled seafood were above average, and I would...
Read moreIt was not what we expected. At first impression, a bar that claims great food. We were early, and the place was empty. 10 minutes later, packed. It's a good sign. Drinks were good, friendly, service, and attentive. When the crab cakes came out so quickly was the first bad sign, flat and cooked at to high a temp made the paste filling taste familiar and frozen. They did not resemble the photos depicted on their site. Our main course came with salad that was at best cold, wilted, and flavorless without the commercial dressing. The main course of the steamers for 2 arrives. It looked very good. Green mussels, crab cluster (1), shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn. What should have been heaven was not. The taste was of refrigerated uncovered seafood that picks up everything around it. Overcooked crab, old and mushy shrimp, metallic tasting mussels. The sausage was of mediocre grade, and the corn pieces were at least a night old. The potatoes, little ones were spot on. My wife begged me not to complain. To be honest, I do have an extensive cooking background, but I try to just enjoy the moment. Regardless of what it might be, that is wrong with the food. The straw that broke the camels back was the insult of serving popcorn butter you get at the movies as a dipping sauce for the so-called seafood. I was disappointed until I looked around at how packed it was. It wasn't for the seafood of any kind. It was everything else on the menu. Wings, steak, or chops not sure, but they were enjoying it. Might try again, but for just under a 100...
Read moreHow is this 4.4 stars? I got the 1/4lb shrimp appetizer (cold) and the shrimp were so over cooked that I actually stopped eating for a second and took a moment of silence to pray for them. I don’t believe in God but for that brief moment I hoped there was something listening to me that could hear me asking to look over these shrimps’ souls. They weren’t cooked, they were tortured. Like they had answers the chefs wanted but they died taking their secrets to the grave. Two of them were so over cooked that I couldn’t get the shells off. Chewing them was like chewing coagulated, hardened dirt.
I had little hope for the crab legs I ordered. The 1lb of legs came out looking like the chefs specifically asked for the runts of the litter. I had a few legs that weren’t over cooked, but even then, the lack of seasoning and natural crab leg flavor killed it. They tasted like they had been soaked in water for hours.
My bill came out to around $35 and it was not worth it whatsoever. I had shrimp out of a bag from the freezer section of Paul’s grocery that tasted ten times better than what I was given here.
I really wanted this place to be awesome.
The people were super friendly though and it seemed like they had a lot going on as far as drink specials. Maybe if you go, stick with the fried stuff and order...
