I can't believe that they turn off the fryers at 7:30pm on Sun and do not close until 9:00pm. So let's stop an think about this for a moment. Humm... so that would mean anything as far as fried food that you order after this time such as 8:30pm an forward has been sitting for an hour and longer. An so on... I don't think the board of health wold like this. Or the Health Inspector.. We went there this evening with no knowledge of this. Ordered our food online. Our payment went through as it should have. An when we go to the window of course they didn't have all the food. No fries. No biscuits. No shrimp. No Mac an cheese. An of course no substitutes. They also forgot the drinks. An of course they don't know how to refund. So the girl said well heres what we had for the order we can give you this. Well, I must say the chicken was horrible. An so was everything else. $26.00 for a lot of nothing. So.. I ask you people to remember when you go to Popye's in Middletown beware the fryers get turned of at 7:30pm sharp on Sundays. And I'm sure by 8:30pm when they close at 10:00pm. Do you really think k this is a way to run a restaurant? I'm sure it's not. Been there an have done that. This is wrong. Fryers don't get shut down until your store closes. At the most 30 min before. No more. I will not be back to this facility to spend my money. I'm sure any of my friends that I share my story with they will not either. You all really need to take a long hard look at the way your store is being operated by the employee's or employee's if this is the company your working for the wrong place unless you just do t care an don't take pride in your work an don't care about the quality of food that is passed out to your customers. Much less the quality of service that is performed. I would hate to see what the inside looks like. You guys. Sorry 😞 I will not be returning to this Popye's. Take...

This is from 2020: Service is extremely slow, employees seemed rushed yet nonchalant at the same time. Food was of decent quality, but 20 minutes to wait for 3 sandwiches, mashed potatoes and onion rings is ridiculous. (3 stars)
Fast forward to 2022: Inconsistent pricing made for a very frustrating visit. I wanted a sandwich and a side, and I asked if there was an offer to 'add a side for $1'. The cashier confirmed you could, so I got 4 sandwiches with 4 sides. She then asked if I wanted to add a side. (Isn't that what I just did?) It was explained I could get a sandwich and a side, THEN add a side for $1. So I asked her to take off two sides, and re-ring them as $1. Once the receipt printed, I discovered she only added one side at $1, one at regular price. The others were rung up as 'dinners', at the cost of $7.99. A dinner comes with a sandwich and a side. I told her I didn't want a 'dinner', I wanted a sandwich and a side, which would be $4.49 + 2.69 = $7.18. There is NO ADVANTAGE to ordering a 'dinner'. It is simply a way to take extra money from customers. When I asked for a manager, he tried to offer $1.69 (difference between regular side and $1 side), but I explained that I was still getting overcharged. The cashier and manager gave conflicting information as I tried to make my argument, but they weren't understanding the problem. I have dropped my review to 2 stars for blatantly ripping off customers by ringing up a 'dinner' for 81 cents more.
Side note: Apparently they charge MORE for 'small' combos than medium or large combos! Check the website or app to make sure you are getting...
Read morePerfect visit- this time. After several missteps for our last several visits (to both Middletown and Preston Hwy. locations), our order this time was perfect. Specifically because we received the chicken we asked for (all mild, not all spicy/or a mixture) and they actually had chicken AND were open this time. (Big accomplishment, trust me). It helps we went at 3pm on a Friday, instead of anywhere from 1hr before close to up-to closing time.
*The only issue we had (minor) is that the coleslaw when we got home was in the same bag as the hot mashed potatoes/gravy (always like this). I don't know if this affected it, but the coleslaw was... sticky, like when you picked it with your spoon, the creamy sauce stuck together like it was gooey. (For leftovers, I actually went to KFC and bought their coleslaw because the gooey texture was just not desirable to eat again). Also for the millionth time, they don't seem to package the coleslaw in one big container, but 3 individuals. Not a big deal, but it's happened everytime lately and it's annoying. Plus I think overall, it's a lesser amount for the same price.
So overall I've learned and pass along to everyone, if you want a good visit-go well before closing. And Always check order...
