What a WONDERFUL place to stop for lunch! I hadn’t had Peruvian food in quite a while, so I thought I’d pop in and check this restaurant out. Ended up there just after 12:30pm and Rafael greeted me! He absolutely took care of me and spoke about several dishes, attempting to help me figure out what to order. I really wanted to try SEVERAL different things, but didn’t have time to order the whole menu today…. BUMMER! 😏🤪😆 I ended up settling on the “Pollada”: seasoned chicken, sliced potatoes with an intriguing yellow sauce, and (instead of a salad) tostones with a lovely yellow sauce. Not sure why, but the sauces grabbed me. TASTY! And Rafael kindly brought a spicy sauce to me, which I promptly dipped chicken into… 😋 … SOOOOO GOOD!!!
I am gonna be real people, I often DANCE when I am eating. The music that was playing had me feeling it along with this yummy, homemade goodness satisfying my appetite! Like, I ate most of what was on my plate, and I am not usually like that.
I’ll just have to go back and eat with my family so we can all order ALL the things I want and I can try them all. 😉
It was a treat, for sure! And I look forward to going back and trying...
Read moreAlejandro and his Dad met us at the door and seated us immediately. It was at 2:00pm. Alejandro explained the Purivan menu for us since we were not too familar with the dishes. Everything sounded so very good. I had the Arroz con Pollo. The chicken was very tasty and tender. The rice was cooked in chicken broth and cilantro. The cilantro flavor was very mild and did not over power the chicken flavor and rice. The Papa a la Huancaina are boiled potatoes slices topped with a creamy cheese sauce. My wife had the Cuban sandwich. It was loaded with meat and sooo flavorful. I did not know the different pepper sauces used with the foods. Alejandro's Dad came out with a small sampling of the four pepper sauces. They ranged from mild to very spicy. The most spicy snuck up and then took my breath away for a minute. It really had a lot of spice flavor. Portions are large. It took only a few minutes from ordering until the dishes were on the table. All dishes are prepared when you order. Everything was very fresh. We live in the local area and will definitely be back to try other selections! This is a full five star...
Read moreI know the term "hidden gem" gets thrown around a lot but this is the best way to describe this restaurant. We Welker in and immediately met the owner/chef and his wife and kids also working there. Everyone was so friendly, it felt as if I had been invited to their home. I started out with a pisco sour and we got some yucca fries for the table. The pisco sour was made perfectly and well balanced and the yucca was crispy and hot. Since we were dining with friends we all got different dishes after our server walked us through the menu. There was a lot of Italian and Asian influence in the menu that the owner said is very common in Peruvian fare.
All of our dishes were delicious and I was surprised that everyone cleaned their plate. That usually doesn't happen amongst my friends when we dine out. I already want to go back to try some more dishes and you should too before everyone finds out about this place and there is a line out the door...
