Let me start out by saying that my 6 year old absolutely loved his cake, and it was decorated beautifully. Whoever does the fondant work is incredibly talented.
However, upon cutting the cake, our guests and my 6 year old and 3 year old sons all had whole and splintered toothpicks all throughout the bottom of the cake. With further inspection, there were more in the pieces that were not served. We were not confident that there were not more, and unfortunately had to take the cake away. This is dangerous. Had one of my sons or guests actually ingested one of these we could have been in the ER instead of celebrating my sons day.
When trying to solve the matter privately via email, Melissa called me right away. Off the bat, she was offensive, argumentative, and tried blaming us for "cutting the toothpicks" that were apparently only used to keep the letters on. Why were there toothpicks throughout the bottom layers if they were only used to keep the letters on? There were no indication or toothpicks in the area the letters were at. We have pictures and adult witnesses of us pulling toothpicks from multiple areas of the cake. When I stated we should have been warned about there being toothpicks in the cake at all, she then blamed the front counter staff of "being young kids and not knowing what they're doing." She stated she was the one that assembled the cake and knew where the toothpicks were. As a responsible owner, one would think she would be the one to bring the cake out or utilize her staff to let people know. She blamed everyone but herself for this potentially dangerous issue, and not once did she offer an apology or offer something to make up for this major oversight.
I paid almost $100 for a cake that was inedible, had uneven layers, and was littered in the bottom layers with toothpicks without so much as a sorry from Melissa. Had the owner of this place acted in a professional manner, I wouldn't even be writing this. However, I believe people should be warned before ordering from this establishment. I would not recommend anyone use this place for...
Read moreTerrible customer service! Due to COVID and being in the health field I had unfortunately been so busy I forgot to order the cake for my sons 1st birthday. I went to order at a different bakery when I finally had a day off but they were closed so since I heard good things about this place I drove 30 minutes to visit this bakery and find out about a cake. When I arrived of course to no ones fault there were 2 people eating in the store so I had to wait outside for what seemed like forever (probably a total of 10 minutes) because there can only be 3 people in at a time. Thankfully the woman in front of me was in and out. When I went in I asked about making a custom cake and the girl behind the counter asked when my event was being held. I told her it was on Sunday which would have been 6 days from the day I was there. Before I could even get anything else out I was told that Melissa wouldn’t do any custom cakes unless she had 7 days and that I couldn’t order in the store anyway, I would have had to do it online. She then told me I could always come pick up an already made cake the morning of the party. She then handed me a business card and said sorry we can’t help you. So I left feeling so distraught over this cake. Of course the business card went into the trash and the next day I called CANNONS BAKERY who told me they would wait for me to get there because I work an hour away and I would get there right at closing. Let me just emphasize the wonderful customer service CANNONS had and how they made out on my $185 cake instead of sweet Melissa’s. I have never tasted anything made by this place and I never will thanks to their awful customer service! Just wanted to share...
Read moreI went with my friends who were visiting from out of state. It was a total of 6 people. I made an order for each one of us. No body liked what they ordered. We got a latte that was just mostly milk and little bit of coffee and the milk was not frotted well, because there was no foam. The caramel Frappuccino was full of mostly just milk and ice and not much of caramel. I had to ask for whip cream and caramel drizzle. I asked for espresso, it did not taste anything like espresso. I got an order of chocolate peanut butter cup, and it was moldy. I took it back and I was told it was from an old batch. God knows how long it was out there. It was not fresh. One of the employees made a comment that the girl that made my order, was stressed because it was a big order because she kept messing the order up more than once while I was standing there waiting for the order. She put the wrong milk, she dropped the Frappuccino, she was so lost.
I really feel like they need extra training on how to make coffee in general. Also they need to check the pastry before putting it on display. All in all my group and I were very disappointed at the services. I went from bragging to them how the place has I’ve 4.0 starts, but got disappointed on how the whole experience was when we got there. Please provide more training to your staff. I would suggest if you get a big order to have the manager make it and let other staff take care of small order. I would also suggest that employees don’t say “ it was a big order and she got stressed” because I didn’t know I am causing you so much stress for just making an order and waiting for...
