For our anniversary, my wife and I decided to try Pithari, hoping for a nice meal. We arrived right at 6 PM on a Monday, and the place was surprisingly empty. We figured it was just an early crowd.
Right away, things felt off with our server, a young woman who seemed really unorganized. We actually had to ask for water, which was odd since it's usually poured as the server goes over specials—though it turns out this place doesn't do them. We ordered two cocktails, but after waiting an agonizing 20 minutes, there was still no sign of them. Our appetizer, however, bizarrely appeared a minute after we ordered, long before our drinks. Our server kept apologizing for the wait, making comments like, "It should be out soon," and "The bartender just topped off the drink."
When our main dishes finally arrived, my salmon was perfectly warm and delicious, which was a relief. My wife's burgundy beef, while packed with flavor, was completely cold. Meanwhile, our server was hardly around. It became clear why: she was chatting non-stop with her friends and their family at a few tables over, completely neglecting us and her other customers. They were getting drinks instantly and seemed to be her top priority.
The most frustrating part was when my wife ordered a Prosecco with her main course, and it didn't even show up until dessert! To make matters worse, it was totally flat. When we pointed it out, our server just shrugged and said, "I can't taste it since I'm not 21." It was a ridiculous response, especially since Prosecco takes around 12 hours to go flat, not minutes. We even noticed an older group next to us who never received their drinks and were quickly deflected when they tried to speak to a manager.
Our server did apologize for the long waits when she finally swung by, but it felt hollow given how empty the restaurant was. While a few elements of the food were decent, the incredibly scattered service, obvious favoritism, and that flat Prosecco really just spoiled what was supposed to be a special anniversary night. We left Pithari disaapoinyes even though we didn’t have high expectations to begin with. But hey, what do we know? It's not like we've traveled the world and actually experienced real Mediterranean food and great service. Clearly, our expectations for a celebratory dinner were just a tad too high...
Read moreAlways looking for great restaurant in delaware . Reserved yesterday and I was surprised there was so many available tables but anyways ... gave it a try . We arrived early and went for a drink at the bar . Bar experience was great , cocktails were good . When we got to our table to the second floor the waitress gave us menu and never offered us water. The table beside us was offered sparkling water , water etc . She came back gave us two glass of a strange mixture of ( tomatoe house prepared tomatoe juice , topped with green probably basil or spinach purée and pine nuts) tasted like salad dressing . Very awkward way to start a meal to be honest . We ordered meatballs they were okay but on the dry side. Cesar salad was also okay but the crostini tasted stale . I looked around few times for our waitress but with no success to get pepper or salt which wasnt anywhere to be found . My husband ordered sea bass its was so dry that he soaked it in the pasta sauce we had ordered as a side dish and came way after our main course because I had to remind one of the waiter ( not my waitress ) that we had ordered pasta . We ordered dessert and my husband asked for a latte . When the latte came there was a layer of cinnamon on top which never been mentioned when we ordered. We asked for another latte it took 20 minutes to get it .... dessert was done . Overall it is a nice place with a lack of organization and the food was subpar . Nothing special , we have been disapointed . Service...
Read moreAt the end of our experience, I said to my husband "so do you want to cancel our trip to the state fair, and ask your parents if they want to come here with us tomorrow?" Lol. We have almost an hour drive to get to this restaurant, but we are coming back. Shout out to our incredibly sweet and attentive waitress, Aryanna! When the bubble on my Cosmo popped, she heard me say I had wanted a picture with the bubble on my Cosmo, and came back to give me another one so we could get the picture!
For drinks, I ordered the Orange Breeze and the Cosmo. Both were excellent, but my favorite was the orange breeze because I love Tanqueray, and the aromatic spritz atop the candied orange really made the drink a multi-sensory experience. The bubble on the Cosmo surprised me, because when it popped it transformed into an aromatic, visible vapor. What a unique touch!
For mains, I had the shrimp risotto and my husband had the Mediteraneo Salmon. In the risotto, the carnoroli rice really elevated the dish. The shrimp was cooked perfectly; quite soft. The salmon dish was delicious overall, but the potato leek cream was the star! It added so much to the fish and really made it different from salmon dishes ordered elsewhere.
For dessert, we ordered the chocolate toffee mousse, which topped off the...
