Manhattan Bagel — Restaurant in Middletown

I just wanted to let you know what a fantastic staff you have at your Middletown Manhattan Bagel shop, particularly Stephanie.

I called on Easter Sunday to check the closing time and was told 2pm. I arrived at 12:00, just as they were preparing to close earlier. I explained this situation and Stephanie asked me what I needed. I told her I was just trying to get a breakfast sandwich for my father who is in a nursing home. She checked with the manager and welcomed me in. I told her I didn’t want to inconvenience the staff, and that I would just be happy to grab a plain bagel and go. She said it was no bother, and they made me the sandwich. Her kindness continued as she offered me a cookie for my father, and then a few bagels as well!

I was in tears, as her kindness meant so much! To be able to bring this small “taste of home” to my father on Easter, who is alone over an hour away in a nursing home, meant so very much! She gave me a hug, told me she understood, and had a compassionate smile.

THIS was exemplary customer service! THIS is the way people should treat each other! THIS is the way to run a business and keep your customers coming back!

I have frequented Manhattan Bagel ever since the first day it opened here in Middletown, and will continue to do so thanks to your courteous employees and the quality of your products!

My Husband normally stops here to pick up at least 2 everything bagels with butter & cream cheese for me. One of the employees gave him a punch card for every time he came in and after the 9th time you get a free bagel. Well he had done so on several different occasions until this one time when this female employee told him he was not supposed to use that card. When he inquired as to why, she told him that a bagel with cream cheese is not a breakfast sandwich and she refused to punch the card. Talk about a sand(witch)!!! We were given the darn thing by one of their employees!!! So to Manahttan Bagels we say: Free bagel or sandwich it really does not matter!!! What should matter is the loyalty of your customers, which we were right up to this point!!! We won't be going back!!! Any company that can not honor their own policy is not worthy of our money!!! Came to pickup my order I called in. Proceeded to get ignored when I asked where I pick up,( not thinking I should have to wait in line behind everyone who is ordering) after getting eye contact avoided for about 10 minutes I waited in line for people ORDERING. just to watch an older white guy come in, get greeted when the a smile and asked if picking up, got served right away.

I finally got half-assed greeted with "what you having? From the girl working the counter and picked up my lukewarm breakfast sandwich and soggy, under cooked hash brown. Thanks Manhattan bagel, usually love y'all but I'll never be back...
