Mother's day lunch. Awful experience. Very, very slow service despite not being busy. Disorganized and indifferent staff. Rules regarding outside seating are not customer friendly. We were told our family of five couldn't sit outside because they only allowed 4 people at one table. No pushing tables together or borrowing chairs (there were dozens of unused outdoor chairs). We have three small children that could easily sit around one table. Instead of offering a solution or an indoor table the hostess just stopped talking to me and served the next party in line; leaving us standing there, ignored, in the foyer. So we sat ourselves and I informed the hostess that my son would sit on my lap. We weren't jumping the line or taking a table someone else was waiting for. Then we didn't receive menus after sitting down for about 20-25 minutes. Then we didn't have silverware. Server wasn't able to provide a beer list with prices. We were dismayed to see how expensive a certain beer ended up costing. I eventually went inside to the bar to order a drink because the server was gone for so long. Then when she didn't come back to take our order she said she assumed I ordered food at the bar. What?! If your party wants to enjoy the summer sun and actually eat before the sun sets I recommend you dine elsewhere. Update 5/23/22: As my husband and I were going over our end of the month credit card receipts we discovered the waitress had charged our credit card for more than the approved amount, giving herself almost double the tip I...
Read moreI want to give this place 5 stars really bad. I'll have to give it a 3.5/5 though. We do eat here fairly frequently, and I've never eaten anything bad. Their entire menu is delicious. However, what keeps me from scoring them higher is their lack of consistency. We will go here 4 or 5 times in a row, and everything is perfect, even when busy. Food is still good, service is great, etc. And then we will have a random trip in, and the service will be awful. 10-15 minute wait at our table just for our drinks, long wait for food, poor service from the waitstaff overall (even if it is not busy). Then we will go another 4 or 5 times and everything will be perfect again. Blows my mind. There are some other silly quirks that I think they could improve upon as well. For instance, my wife and I took our daughter there a week or so ago, and ordered her something off the kids menu. They asked if she wanted veggies or fries for a side. We decided veggies. We were thinking maybe cooked mixed vegetables (which it has come with in the past). Well, the "side" of veggies was 1 thin carrot stick, 1 thin celery stick, and 2 sliced cucumbers. All uncooked of course. My wife and I looked at each other and thought it was odd, and not what we were used to. Our daughter is 2 and I guess I expected the waitress to warn us about that side. All in all, however....the food is great, and we get exceptional service 8 out of 10 times. We will certainly continue to...
Read moreMy family goes to Big E’s for the great atmosphere and food, but more importantly we go to see one of the servers- Aaron. He used to wait on us at Applebee’s and we followed him when he went to Big E’s. As a business owner in town I cannot emphasize how important it is to offer outstanding customer service. Ask any of my own employees and they will tell you that what I hire them to do is, “Establish positive relationships with my customers.” I then tell them that they will know that they are succeeding when I answer the phone or go to wait on a customer, and the customer asks for the employee by name to help them instead of me. This should be the goal of all customer service jobs. It is the front lines, employees, that make customers want to come back. I have witnessed many times where Aaron is waiting on multiple tables and he talks to all of his customers as if they are old friends. He knows their names, the food they prefer, and the drinks they are habitually ordering. He genuinely cares for his tables and guests. My children know Aaron and ask often if we can go to Big E’s and get a table in his section. I have asked Aaron to come talk to my own staff about the importance of personal customer service. He laughs as if he thinks I am joking, but I hope at some point he takes...
