Grand Buffet — Restaurant in Midland

This place is good with waiting time. The interior is beautiful and maintained. I’ve never waited longer than 5 minutes to be seated. The price is fair.

However, the food is only good sometimes and sometimes the plates aren’t truly clean. For example, I lifted up a plate and underneath was a huge chunk of rice. How do you miss that if you are throughly washing the dishes as intended?

Aside from that, most of the food was cold. The onion rings were soggy and the warmest thing I had in my plate was a mozzarella stick, and the cheese inside was no longer warm or melted. The meat on the kebab was not very warm if at all. The sushi was presented very well and tasted great. Obviously it was meant to be cold.

Oddly enough, someone managing the food on the trays put a chicken wing with the onion rings. It was odd in my opinion, but okay I guess...?? If I didn’t see the staff do it with my own eyes, I simply wouldn’t eat the food because I would be afraid that a customer tampered with it.

The waiter and the cashier were both incredibly kind. There were no disturbances during our meal and the table was fairly clean. The same goes for the seats.

Overall, I would not recommend that anyone go to this restaurant to eat at this time. This restaurant can improve by making fresh food and serving it to customers. Aside from the food which was a bit of disappointment and the thing that matters the most to me when dining with my family, my experience was quite nice. I would also recommend checking the plates and scrubbing extra hard since I know that people eat off of them often, and that can spread a disease called mono (spread through saliva) and maybe even the flu.

Service has gone down hill. We went to have dinner with our three younger sisters, they sat us down and got us our drinks and never came back to check on us. We continued to eat, by this point, each of us having at least a plate that needs to be taken from the table. Waiter still has yet to come grab them. By the time we finish eating, we each have about 2-3 plates in front of us, and she still hasn’t come to clear the plates or even offer us a refill. We sat there for a while until she brought us our ticket. We paid close to $80 for 5 of us, and we were gonna leave a tip in cash so we did not write anything on the receipt. But she hovered the whole time we were signing and then looked at it right there and then, demanding a tip instead of just waiting. So we decided not to leave one because she demanded one. We told her no a couple of times and she just stood there and looked at us. She kept going around the table and pointing to everyone and tapping paper where it said, “tip,” demanding one from us. Keep in mind, we’re in front of our three little sisters, all under 12 years old. They were confused and a little frightened because she started getting loud and harassing us. She threw the check holder back at us then stormed off, cursing in her native language and slamming chairs in and throwing plates around, causing a scene. She went and told a couple of her coworkers, pointing at us and even as we were leaving, she was talking to the manager and still pointing and raising her voice at us. Super unprofessional, embarrassing, inappropriate, and uncalled for. Get it together. All this and she could’ve just walked away and still...

No option for 0 stars? Never got drinks refilled not even a visit from anybody to check on us the whole time there. Had to close the women's restroom since it was left wide open for men to look in and some even walked in while I was waiting for my wife. Restrooms were dirty and every walkway to get there was sticky. Some random guy came to get a couple plates and our "server" came with the bill at the end. Didn't even know he was our server since he never showed up the whole time except to give the bill. Even the lady that took us to the table was rude. Some poor guy sat there asking waiters for a refill the whole time and I don't think he actually got it. Server got mad and made a scene because I left a tip too small for what he thought he deserved. Only tried confronting my wife to confront her about it and I had to pull him away to explain why he got a $1.25 tip (too much than I should've given) and he got mad and stormed away. Never have seen a male server trying to intimidate a woman in my life so I was surprised by the gall the guy had. Saw him joined by another coworker cleaning another table when we left looking like he was trying to shame us on our way out in their native language. I'd be ashamed for the lack of service and price of the bill for what you get. Do yourself a favor and go get a Walmart freezer Asian meal if that's what you're...
