This place was terrible. We arrived at 4:15pm and were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a table (this was on a Saturday). Because we'd visited another Lucky's in Okemos a few months prior - which was OUTSTANDING - we were happy to accept the wait. We thought the establishment would be similar to the one in Okemos. Not so.
45 minutes goes by, still no table... yet we see other groups who arrived after us, getting seated before us. Finally, at an hour, my mother-in-law asked if we were getting close, and they said, "Not too much longer. Maybe 15 minutes." Lo and behold, 30 minutes goes by; we continue to watch other groups of approximately our size keep getting seated that arrived after us! MIL approached host station again; they said the table we would be getting was settling their bill, and it would just need cleaned off. 5 minutes later, they called our party (6 of us) and asked us to wait near the host station.
We approached and stood there - wall to wall people - hosts and waitstaff running back and forth. We kept having to move out of the way of everyone. One of the hostesses, who aggressively walked through us twice (after she called us up and asked us to stand there) came through with a snippy attitude telling us to move so she could get through - and all but shoved me out of the way! We were basically doing the waltz the entire time because people were EVERYWHERE. But, girl, you called US up here! So why are you being rude to us; we did what you asked?!
Whatever - it was busy and we were starving by this point (45 minute wait turned into an HOUR and 45). Having had two of us who've worked in the industry for a combined 30 years, we tried to be understanding. We are finally seated, after standing for 10 more minutes and our server came by fairly quickly to get our drink order and offer us bread while we scanned the menus. Super polite young lady; I wish I remembered her name.
Anyway, drinks come, bread comes, order gets taken - great! Ok, we're on the up and up! Close to half an hour goes by, server comes by asking if we'd like refills and more bread, tells us thanks for being patient (we hadn't seen her since order was taken half an hour prior) and food shouldn't be too much longer. Ok. Awesome.
Another 20 min. & server comes back by to let us know she's sorry again, the kitchen is "really trying," and ours was next up. Cool. 20 MORE minutes, food comes. Well most of it. Part of my daughter's meal - who, at this point was crying because she was so hungry - was forgotten. So, we're now looking at just under 3 hours for us to get fed. And part of it was missing! Oh, but that's not all...
Hubby's mid-rare requested steak was shoe leather, left under the lamp for WAY too long. My son's burger came with everything on it, after he'd asked for only meat and cheese. Everyone's fries were cold. MIL's food was dry; my Brussels burnt & cold. So now we had to wave the server down to let her know about the issues and were met with multiple aplogies again - which was appreciated, but unfortunately, didn't solve the problem. So, we asked to speak to a manager.
Manager comes out (15 min later!) and we tell him how disappointed we are and at this point, we would just like our bill - which we asked to have some things be removed from. He offered to make us new food, and offered us free dessert. Lol. Umm, no. We don't want to wait another hour+ for food. We've had a piss-poor experience - we just want to leave. Manager finally agrees and says give him a minute.
While he's away, server comes through and stops to say to my son, "I know you said no to another burger, but I felt really bad so they threw another one on for you and it's one minute out." Before we could respond, she tore off again.
2 min later, she comes back with his new burger and said, "Here bud. This one should be better." Except bun was SOAKED in grease. Lifted soggy bun - browned on outside, but it was RAW inside. 🙄 Manager did discount the bill at least & we finally left. Not home til after 8:30! Dreadful....
Read moreMonday, July 10, 2017 visited your newly-opened Lucky's Restaurant and had a very Unacceptable and Horrible experience. I took my family out for a nice dinner while visiting them in Midland. Four of us ordered sweet potatoes that were uncooked and hard and we were unable to eat them. One of my family members is diabetic and only ordered a sweet potato for her meal and needed to eat something so she used her steak knife to cut it into pieces and ate half of it hard and uncooked. We had her eat bread so it would help her sugar level. My daughter ordered garlic mashed potatoes and she was told that they ran out of mashed potatoes --- but as we paid our bill and were about to leave --- the table next to us was served garlic mashed potatoes. My daughter went right to the manager and asked her why she lied to her about being out of mashed potatoes. The manager did not offer to adjust our bill for the sweet potatoes so I asked her if she would take them off our bill - once again unacceptable - she should have offered. Our server (Josh) was GREAT and very attentive and apologized repeatedly for the Bad Experience. This whole experience in your newly-opened restaurant was Horrible. There is no excuse for the undercooked food and the Manager lying to us. As we walked out a lady who was just there to pick up a take-out menu asked us how our meal and dining experience was and I told her it was a Very Bad Experience and had no plans to return. I am a 70-year old grandmother/mother from Florida, who was taking my family out for a nice dinner while visiting and I am on a fixed income, so taking a crowd of people out to dinner takes a big chunk out of the fixed-monthly income I live on and to be so unhappy and have such a bad dining experience and bad food is unacceptable and I will certainly spread this information to as many people in this area as I can. Once again, our server Josh was terrific and did everything in his power to please us and he apologized for all that had happened. Your management needs to train staff better and make sure there is enough food and that it is cooked properly - this is elementary when it comes to running a restaurant. I know this because I owned two restaurants in my lifetime and this whole experience would have never been acceptable in my...
Read moreWe had just a party of three of us so seating was not any problem, although I asked if we could get a table in the back, not a problem there either. I felt the atmosphere to be nice and a bit upscale, it made me feel at ease, not too bright and the ambiance was soothing. I thought the floors were just fine and my shoes did not stick to the floor as another patron complained about. To my eyes everything looked clean. Upon arriving at our table we were greeted by our server and supplied with the most amazing fresh loaf of warm bread inside a white paper sleeve and tiny black plastic cups that contained whipped butter with a hint of garlic. This whipped butter I’d like to know how to make it, it was super light and yummy. The white bread was incredibly fluffy, warm and delicate which had a nicely browned top crust with a slightly salty garlicky top crust that was so good that we bought two loaves to take home. The bread alone was worth the experience and even if I had ordered just soup and this bread would have sufficed for me in itself. I chose the French onion soup which was pretty good but the broth could have been a bit thicker and although was good it did slightly lack in flavor but I would get this again next time I go in Lou of the salad nonetheless. Our entrees included prime rib, sirloin steak, and filet mignon medallions. My husband did like his steak cooked medium and it was cooked to his liking but it had a bit of gristle but the flavor was there. The same for my mignon’s, a bit of gristle but I ordered them medium rare, they were cooked just as I ordered. I felt the flavor was terrific and there were four small pieces that were more than enough for myself but I eat light. I took home leftovers and upon reheating the mignon’s were even better! My son liked the prime rib but I think he was up in the air about it really. All of us had enough leftovers to take home, they serve an ample amount of food, which is great. We left a generous tip to our server, she did a nice job and was attentive and but not overbearing and THANKFULLY did NOT address us as “honey” “darlin” “sweetheart” etc as these wait staff now days needs coaching on what not to say! Our overall experience was real nice and we plan to go back to...
