Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Midland

Ok let's start off with food presentation. So some of your food is weighed while you're at the counter depending on what you order, they assemble your order in a plastic crate, presentation definitely lacks something to be desired. So here's my order: four meats, brisket (asked for sliced), spare ribs, jalapeno and cheese sausage, chicken, baked beans, potato salad and a peach cobbler. The brisket i received was extremely dry, had that commercial smoke taste where you can taste the gas, color was lacking and was grayish and really no smoke ring, the manager asked if everything was ok, gave her that look like "not really" and told her the brisket was dry, she was friendly and brought me out a slice of the fat cap Wich was more most and flavorful, that being said, if you can't render the fat into your more lean slices while smoking then there's a major problem. The brisket i ordered here would give a 5/10. The ribs had a nice bark and good seasoning, smoke ring really non existent and had some moisture but not juicy as they could have been 6/10, the chicken was decent and skin had nice color and flavor, meat was a little above average 6/10, the jalapeno and cheese sausage was the best thing I ate here so far as meat, really good flavor not much of a snap but didn't mind. 7/10. Beans and potato salad were good no complaints. All in all this place has some work to do. But it's a commercial chain so might not happen. Would I suggest this place....well probably not as I wouldn't go back myself. Maybe it's worth a shot going in to check it out. The food is over priced, think I payed over $50 for myself. The ambiance is nice. Good place for a large group to go eat mediocre...

I tried your BBQ today. For $40, I was disappointed. Your BBQ has no real flavor. It's pretty flat. If I had a describe it, I would do so as such: it's better than Dickies, but I've had bowel movements that are better than Dickies. You don't get a break on that one. try to match HEB's true Texas BBQ. And true Texas barbecue messes things up frequently, but you haven't made it up to that level yet. You're charging the same price, but you don't have the quality that they have. That might be a place to start, match or beat that barbecue, because until you do I won't be buying from you again. I wasted $40 today, and I won't do it...

I really don't like to give a bad review because the staff was amazing and I really did like the atmosphere but, the food was really bland. The brisket was smoked but no other seasoning... No salt, not juicy. The coleslaw had no dressing, NONE. Just the veggies. The peach cobbler was good and the creamed corn was alright. When you pay over 60.00 for two people to eat, you're really expecting it to be good enough come back again and again. Maybe it...
