This was the worst service I've ever experienced. I know this is Midland and the service sucks, but I am taking this into consideration as I write this.
We went here for a birthday event with 5 people. The initial waitress was good, but we ended up with a replacement a few minutes later. We started ordering drinks and the waitress took off. I asked her about a certain drink and she put up her hand saying "one second." Five minutes later she came back and asked if I had a question. I asked what a certain drink was and ended up having to google it bc she didn't have a clue. I ordered a beer, then minutes later was told that their CO2 was out so no draft beers.
After finally getting a drink 20 minutes later we placed our order and asked for more bread. 30 minutes later we ask where the bread was and she told us they burnt it in the oven, then miraculously minutes later other waiters appeared with bread. She comes back 40 minutes after ordering our food and said the ticket cut off and she needed us to confirm our orders.
My girlfriend ended up going to the bar to get us drinks bc the waitress did not come to check on us the whole time. When she noticed we had gotten drinks from the bar she asked if she could get us anything. My girlfriend told her we would get them from the bar because it would be quicker.
Finally 2 hours after we sat down we got our food. It was actually really good, which was the only saving grace for this restaurant. We ate quickly and grabbed the check. We tipped $30 on a $200 bill, though the waitress deserved nothing. As we were walking out the manager came out finally and asked us about our experience. We told him everything and he apologized. It didn't seem like he cared very much. He said he wished we had told him before we left and said he would have a talk with the waitress.
If you're thinking about coming here for a special event or date, I would avoid it altogether. If you do I'd order the food to go and pick it up rather than subject yourself to this...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience at Saltgrass in Midland TX on Friday 9/9/22. It was my son’s 11th birthday and when we asked him where he wanted to go for Dinner he said Saltgrass. Right from the beginning while we were waiting to be seated the manager repeatedly came to the host stand to tell the host to stop seating people because the kitchen was “backed up”. I thought that was odd. Because they weren’t that busy. Anyways we got seated and had a great waitress. None of this was her fault. It took about 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered a 12 oz. ribeye medium well. What I got was a tiny thin burned piece of meat. Almost like they were playing a joke on me. It was terrible. The steak was cooked to extra extra well. Black char marks all over it. Disgusting. So I sent it back. My son had got the kids burgers. Both of his small burger patties were burned and charred as well. The patties looked like charcoal blocks. Terrible. So we sent it back. I asked for the manager. He came by and offered to bring us replacement food. Well by that time the whole experience was ruined. But we let them replace our food. My steak was better the second time but not by much. And my son’s little burger patties were now under cooked and pink/red in the middle. We paid $65 for a horrible meal and a terrible experience. We’ve been to this restaurant before. And it’s never been this bad. This was a true disappointment. To serve people that kind of blatantly wrong food is beyond me. And the manager never offered us a refund for any of the food. Will not be going back to Saltgrass for a very long time. And I’ll be sure to tell as many people as I know what kind of food the Midland TX...
Read moreThis has never been bad enough to leave a review, but I have finally decided to make one. We have been coming to this saltgrass every few weeks as a special occasion while I am in town. I am only here in Midland, visiting family. There is normally never a host, so we wait upfront for what feels like eternity. We then have to seat ourselves in the cocktail area and wait even longer for a server. Finally, when we get a server, it seems like they just disappear. We see them when they take our order, then never again for another 10–20 minutes. Servers then stand around the end of the bar, talking about things that should be said behind closed doors. It seems like only a few of the staff actually do their jobs. On this particular day, which made me write this review, We had an early dinner around 4:30 on 10/14/23. Not even halfway through, the bartender went outside and started yelling at someone. She was halfway in between the doors. I couldn't hear what she was saying, but she sounded mad. She then went behind the bar. She started talking to other staff and guests about what happened outside. saying things like she is just here to pick up. She should just quit. Along with that, she's just here to show off. I just wanted to enjoy a meal with my family, but I felt it was a stressful environment. I don't want to leave a bad review because of my great server. but I feel there is definitely more to do than stand around and gossip. My drinks also took forever to get to me, even after they were made. With how slow the bar was, they definitely could have walked the extra steps...
