My visit to the Dairy Barn profoundly changed my life. Where once I had unshakable faith in the Divine nature of the chocolate malt as not only the Pinnacle of human achievement but also as a way to bring the world together (no lactose intolerants unfortunately ) now I can't even think of one without reliving the horror of the Dairy Barn chocolate malt. When I saw that, unlike most places, they charged extra for malt I thought it meant they were serious about quality. I was wrong. The first sip had no malt flavor and I chalked it up to incompetence on the part of the child workforce. No malt, only overly sweet ice cream. I took off the lid and took a mouthful and that's when the first clump of malt hit my mouth like a bomb. I realized the malt was added but not mixed properly. Then the rest of the malt, dark sticky treacle-like abberations that had been dwelling at the bottom of the over-sweet ice cream, crawled into view. For the first time in my life I threw away a chocolate malt. Later, when I came to, I thought that the problem may stem from the extra charge ($0.50) for malt. The rustic natives would think it extravagant, so the malt sat on the shelf, day after day, summer after summer, getting hard and deformed.... until...
Read moreI love this place! They serve great food and ice cream. There are many different things to choose from on the menu! The girls are nice and have great energy. For those who dislike the grill times, call and order before you get there. The girls need enough time to wash everything at the end of the day. They always leave the grill open for sports teams. Their shakes are absolutely amazing and mixed well. Slushies are just what you would expect a slushy to be they arent called slurpees like you would get from a gas station they are meant to have bigger chunks of ice in them. Even if prices are going up everywhere they always try to keep things relatively cheap. For those dissing on the Mac and cheese bites, I don't know what you expect from them They don't have the time to make homemade Mac and cheese everyday and it would take way longer to get your order done that way anyways. Tom does a great job of getting everything made. If you find yourself waiting to long ask him about it they may have forgot and will get to your order as soon as possible for the grilled food. The sizes are perfect for those who don't like having too much ice cream and big enough for those...
Read moreWanted to support a small business instead of going to a chain... Won't make that mistake again. I ordered a baby cone with sprinkles for my 3 year old and a small Reese's flurry for myself and was charged roughly $5 and some change. We waited almost 10 mins to get the baby cone, and my flurry never came out. We sat down and I figured it might just take longer to make, but then I noticed people that were behind us in line getting their orders. So I went back to the cashier to let her know I never received my flurry, and her and the manager (I'm assuming, some 40ish year old man) started going through all the receipts like I was lying or something. He stated he "never saw an order for a flurry and he already gave me the baby cone..." Why yes, he did, but that was only half of my order. He then turned around and made it and begrudgingly handed it to me like I was a liar. Dude, I'm not going to rip off an ice cream stand with my 3 year old in tow. If I wanted to rip someone off, this would be the last place. This was supposed to be our mommy-son date and my son's ice cream was already melted before I could even get mine. I won't spend another penny here... DQ...
