I took my Dad in to Bob Evans tonight for a hot meal after a long day. We specifically drove to a further away location because the location near us has given us poor service in the past. We walked into the Milford location to overhear what ended up being the MANAGER discussing an employee's work ethic with said employee in the middle of the front lobby. It appeared as if the employee was being disciplined in some way-for all of the customers to see. She walked away looking very upset. Several moments went by while the manager typed on the check out kiosk near the front door. Only then did he even aknowledge that we were standing there at the host stand waiting to be seated. He called over to us that he would be right with us and disappeared in the back. No problem. We waited for a minute or two. Then a minute or two more. At this point two other employees are standing behind the counter in clear sight of us. One of them checked someone out then appeared to be rolling silverware. The other was making a fresh pot of coffee. Neither seemed particularly rushed or overwhelmingly busy. Yet, neither of them even looked our way. After about five more minutes of us standing there our patience had run out. We walked over to the counter and asked one of the workers if we could talk to a manager. He responded by saying "about?" In a very challenging manner. Like how dare we ask that. Finally the manager came out and at first he doesn't even look at us. He walks back over to the kiosk and was about to start typing when we got his attention. We explained our frustration at having stood at the door waiting for about 10 minutes and no one greeting or seating us. He seemed totally unbothered and unsympathetic. He waved around the restaurant and said "yeah well we are short staffed tonight. What did you need anyway? A table?" I am absolutely dumbfounded by his tone and total lack of customer service. I am a server myself so I can understand being short staffed, but as we glanced around the restaurant I could see four employees and there was only about 8 tables that had patrons at them. The restaurant wasn't even half full. We were so apauled that we just left and went to eat next door at Roosters instead. This is the third time I've had an experience like this at a Bob Evans. Three strikes and you're out. I think I'll go to IHOP...
Read moreParking: plenty Cleanliness: very good Service: mixed results We arrived and stood at the host's station unsure whether we should seat ourselves or not because there was no one standing there, the cashier didn't say anything, and there was no sign instructing us to wait. I finally asked the cashier whether or not to wait - she looked mildly irritated because she was with a customer and said she's the hostess. After taking care of that customer, she took us to a table. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but made some mistakes. For example, my sister instructed her to remove allergens from her food but she didn't write it down, so the Bob Evans salad came complete with everything she's allergic to. The food was brought out by a different person, who took the salad back and made sure no allergens were in the salad - including the corn kernels my sister didn't realize were in it. My sister also ordered biscuits with her meal but they weren't brought out. At the end of the meal, we had to request them. The other server who brought the food out was attentive and apologetic - I hope that the lady who made these mistakes will get additional training. I had the ham eggs benedict, which was okay but I couldn't really taste the hollandaise sauce. This may have been because I ordered my eggs sunny side up and the yolks were overwhelming the sauce. I could taste the ham, eggs and biscuits. I tasted the sauce separately and it was sour but not lemony. The home fries had a bit of a sour flavor to them that seemed to come from the oil that had been used. I told one of the servers and she said that the oil had recently been changed, so I guess they just do so much frying that it doesn't take long to affect the oil. My sister almost always orders the Bob Evans salad so I guess it's great? I tried their pumpkin spice bread which was okay but it didn't wow me.
Bob Evans offers a nice selection of typical meals you'd expect to see at an American restaurant, including eggs, pancakes, pot roast, turkey, salad, soup and chicken. It doesn't offer much that you can't fix at home, though. I wouldn't mind going there again and trying...
Read moreI don’t know what has happened to this Bob Evans, but it appears to have gone downhill and it’s sad. My wife and I regularly go to this restaurant with our granddaughter because it is my granddaughter’s favorite restaurant. My wife and I have noticed the service and the quality of the food has gone down over the past several months.. Tonight it hit an all-time low with my wife only getting pancakes with a meal that was supposed to include eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon, and my granddaughter only got her pancakes and no bacon. I was able to at least get 2/3 of my meal with the main course and an extra side that I ordered, but not the main side I was supposed to have. This was on a Saturday night where it is supposed to be the busiest night of the restaurant and they had major shortages on food and people had at least a 40 minute wait to get their food. My wife’s pancakes were underdone, as well as my granddaughter pancakes were under done. It just appears that something has gone horribly wrong with this restaurant and they need to figure it out before they have no customers.. I would like to add that the wait staff was very kind and doing their best with what the situation had to offer. We did get our meal comp because of what had occurred, but that is not the point. This restaurant needs to get back on their feet and they need to figure out what’s...
