I wanted to treat my niece to a meal for her birthday, so my kids and I met her there. Parking: limited Drive-thru: yes Dining room: spacious but not only is it closed but you cannot even go inside. A menu is posted in the window next to the locked entrance. You can call and order. The steamed dumplings were unremarkable. The skin is somewhat thick and firm and the meat filling is almost flavorless. Bathe them in a bit of the included sauce, however, and that does the trick. Each meal included fried wonton skin sticks. They smell strongly of oil and taste like crackers, not wonton skin. Egg drop soup: pathetic Hot & sour soup: better than No 1 Kitchen House special soup: full of a variety of veggies, including bamboo shoots, as well as chicken and shrimp. It's somewhat bland in flavor, though. Chicken lo mein: No 1 Kitchen has MUCH better lo mein. Golden sesame chicken: very tasty, includes a side of fried rice. Shrimp & Scallop in garlic sauce: nice! Mixed Chinese vegetables: nice flavor but, although I specifically asked for level 7 spiciness, it wasn't spicy at all.
They provided several more fortune cookies than you'd expect for what we ordered, and a whole lot of packets of condiment (soy, sweet & sour & spicy Chinese mustard sauce), however all of the condiments were a disappointment, being weak in flavor.
I guess it depends on what you want to get - for some foods No 1 Kitchen is better. Never go to Chinatown Buffet on Business 28 for...
Read moreThe food was pretty good. The Teriyaki chicken was a bit disappointing. However, when I tried to pay w/my card the lady insisted on having my home address. After I provided it, they claimed the address didn't match the card. I asked to speak to someone else because I was confused as to why they were even asking this and thought maybe I was misunderstanding. The lady refused stating she's worked there 20 years. So I decided to pay cash. I called back and asked for soy sauce and utensils. The same lady proceeded to ask why I needed soy sauce considering what I had ordered. I offered to pay for the sauce. She proceeded to make me name a number of sauces I wanted and when I said 8 she told me she wouldn't charge me. Overall, it was a super weird situation and I don't understand why the employee was so incredibly rude. So while the food was probably a 3.5-4 the terrible customer service is the reason for...
Read moreI've eaten at most every Chinese Restaurant in the East Cincy area and China House is my favorite for many reasons. First, the food is awesome. I enjoy hot and spicy and they are the only Chinese Restaurant brave enough to really "make it as hot as you can" when I ask!! Other places wimp out!! Second, they have a pick up WINDOW. For someone disabled, to not have to get out of my vehicle to pick up carry out, is HUGE for me. The only thing BETTER is if they delivered to Owensville, which is only about five miles, hint, hint!! :) Third, the pricing is a great value for what you get. When I order, I often get two entrees which will give me two dinners and a lunch,so you get more than your money's worth for sure. And Fourth, it's conveniently close, even without delivery (which would really make them even more awesome).
Everyone has different tastes, but for me, it suits my...
