This is no longer your TYPICAL bland Texas-mexican food in Milford, Delaware.
The lead chef is name Fauto and he is originally from Honduras.
He does not speak much English but this is fine because the comexities and nuances in his 100% authentic Mexican dishes SPEAK volumes for his massive culinary experience.
Tasting his cooking is almost as good as seeing the varied and gorgeous variety of Mexico's vast and varied multiple ecosystems and landscapes.
Just like California, Mexico has beautiful beaches, mountains and many more historical sites than the United States who is a baby country is this world -- officially proclaimed as a country in 1776.
Regardless about how you feel about history and our country's current tedious relationship with the government of Mexico, you should definetly come taste this chef's food!
I think you will find it as authentic as any true Mexican cooks along the border and in any Southwestern state!
This is not your normal boring DELMARVA made Tex-Mex food.
LA Tonalteca in Milford is worth the detour off of Route 1 to try his 5-star quality food right here in the heart of chicken country and Below the canal!
It is one of my slower lower Delaware/Kent County favorites!
You owe it to your selves to eat here.

Read moreI love this restaurant. The food is good if you want American Mexican. The decor is very nice and the wait staff are great. The prices have been slowly increasing to what I feel is unreasonable. On the online menu the price for quesadilla is 5.99 for bean and cheese. I asked over the phone for no beans and beef tips to be added. I didn't have any sides..no refried beans, no rice and no salad. I paid $13 each for two. $26 dollars for 4 tortillas, some cheese and probably half a cup of shreaded beef...if that. Are you kidding me? I also ordered a large queso dip...charged $11. For....melted cheese. Wow. And a large bag of chips was $6. I asked them to take the chips back. Who would pay that? I love the food but being married to a Mexican I'm aware of what it would cost at home to make these things and these prices are just ...marked up way beyond what I'm willing to pay. If other people want to pay $13 dollars for a quesadilla that cost them less than $4 to make...that's on them. Wait staff make very little per hour on payroll and I'm sure he buys food wholesale. I just don't get it. I won't be going back unless their prices come down. If you go there be aware that you'll pay a...
Read moreThe food itself was good. But the waitress didn't fill our drinks they were empty untill we were almost done. We had a group of 6 with 2 toddlers and she put pitchers of soda for we could serve ourselfs. She rarely came and cheaked on us untill we were waiting to leave. She handed us our cheak after we asked for it and called her again to come pick it up. After she cashed us out she gave us the ticket to sign and she had ALREADY put THE TIP and THE TOTAL amount HERSELF. Putting 20% tip making it 18 dollars on tip was totally not ok. I feel we should have a right to put the tip we think SHE deserves. I'm not sure if they do this to everyone at this resturant or just us. But it was so wrong I felt really upset I talked to the guy up front and ask if they do that he said yes but if we wanted we could change it, we didn't. But I'm never going there again. That was offensive made me feel like they thought we weren't going to leave a good tip. I was a server once and we weren't allowed to do that.. Also I know how to tip. I'm Hispanic and a lot of us don't know how to tip I got stiffed a lot. But that shouldn't be the reason to make sure you get your tip by...
