Good place to gather. Impossible to find parking unless you don’t mind a short walk. Best bet is to just accept the fact that you’re going to need to walk here and get over it. Don’t even bother looking for parking.
I got the clam strips, and received a mountain. Literally. I thought I was hungry, but didn’t make it to the bottom of the plate. Happy to take some home. The breading was good, and was missing salt for my personal taste - of which, there were no shakers on the table. Probably better that way, given the salt in other food, but an inconvenience nonetheless. The missing star on the food category (5 stars overall) is cause I wanted salt and I’m an introvert. Otherwise, perfection. Not overcooked or undercooked, good kitchen staff.
The potato wedges were godly.
I had recently been to Mikro in Hamden who had salt and vinegar onion rings which were great - these were identical, but minus the vinegar. These were more delicious. Good crispy batter that didn’t fall apart, properly cooked rings you could bite and not pull the onion out. Really great.
I have a thing for trying onion rings and an old fashioned wherever I travel, and that should say something about both the kitchen and the bar. The onion rings easily describe the kitchen, the food was awesome.
The old fashioned however, had a masticated orange and was practically straight. Couldn’t tell there was orange in it, thought it was the bourbon with the cherry. Needs work. But otherwise it doesn’t leave you wanting.
The service was great, very attentive, left good space in between.
I’d have to visit again to really chide the bar given my old fashioned, but I had a great time. We didn’t wait long for food and we were taken care of nicely.
The small lobster roll one of us got looked amazing. If you’re craving a hole that needs to be filled in your life, this place will make you feel better that day.
As for noise, you could easily talk with your inside voice and be heard. I was probably the one that made everyone talk louder because I was excited explaining something. The noise dropped when I...
Read moreI went approximately 1 yr ago and had a similar experience where l was overlooked while other patrons were served, but l went back today bc l know people will say black prepare trying to pull the race card. Today l went in and the hostess didn’t acknowledge me so l asked him do l seat myself and he said yes. After seating myself. I wait for 5 mins without service while a waitress came to the table next to me and asked if they needed anything or refills on their drinks. After that l deliberately set a timer and after approximately 10 minutes another white couple came and started sitting next to me and before they could even sit down the hostess came to give them menus and silverware. I called this to his attention and said l been sitting here for over 10 mins and no one has helped me so tell me how you determine who gets menus. He said “oh, my bad” and went and got me a menu. I continued to press the issue, but l still never received an answer. As he was walking off, the waitress from earlier had already fixed them two lemonades and two waters so l asked her the same question. She looked even more dumbfounded and just said, “can l take your order”. I got up and left bc l know subtle racism when l see it, it doesn’t have to slap me in the face. The first time l wasn’t sure, but I’m 100% sure this time and I’ll take my money where black people are respected and...
Read moreWent for a lobster roll ended up buying a t-shirt and a corned beef sandwich. Sandwich was tasty and the beer was fresh, nothing like a cold Sea Hag! The wait staff and support staff were very friendly even under the pressure of St. Patrick's Day. Even the locals were nice. The T-SHIRT is great quality (Gildan) and the print is nice. If you like to pick up shirts from places you visit you can't go wrong with this shirt. I ate at the bar so there was no wait for me, a group did belly up to the bar waiting for a table, they did not have to wait long. Parking is an issue so as soon as you see a spot in town grab it or park in the municipal lot it is free can't imagine that you would get a ticket for staying over the 2 hour limit. I walked from the municipal lot to the restaurant. The walk was nice and the people I encountered along the way were also nice. It was during daylight hours so I don't know what happens at night. The town itself is really quaint, I am a traveler so I don't know if it has always been that way or if it has been redeveloped. In any case if you don't visit Seven Seas you are missing...
