Everything from service to food was incredibly underwhelming. I am shocked that this is owned by the same people who have Alma Bistro in Norwalk, it is pretty hard to believe. Not sure what the jerk chicken tacos have to do with jerk chicken but they tasted nothing like jerk chicken and were visually unappealing to top it off. Maybe try something culturally relevant instead if you're trying your hand at being creative. The tacos were mediocre at best, and that is being generous. They weren't bad but I would never come back for them or crave and remember them in a taste worthy way. The guacamole was good, the chips were not. The ambiance needs a lot of help, it is not inviting at all. Taco Tuesday doesn't apply to this location, another shocker considering this spot needs all the help it can get in my opinion. Overall, I would never come back here, it was a waste of a trip and gas and the worst part is that it was my birthday lunch. We were going to have dessert and sing happy birthday but we we're not comfortable here at all. The waitress was nice at the end when bringing our check, but overall a bit snarky. Very disappointed in this spot and experience.
To the person complaining that you couldn't bring your service dog in: find places that allow pets before you go. You shouldn't rate a place based off that. People have allergies, some places are too small to allow pets, and there is food involved. Stop being self centered and call places before...
Read moreI recently had lunch here with my husband. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the bacon-wrapped jalapenos as an appetizer, and it was very good - sort of like jalapeno poppers, but with bacon instead of breading. My husband ordered the chicken quesadillas, and I ordered the chicken adobado tacos. I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about the tacos, but there was nothing wrong with the way they were made - I just didn't care for the flavor of the sauce (so that's more an issue of personal taste, and I don't hold that against the restaurant). Along with our meals, the server put out 3 bottles of different sauces. One was a mango sauce which my husband really liked, and he asked if he could purchase some to take home. So the server let him buy a good-sized tub of sauce for a few dollars, which he was very happy about. We got churros for dessert, and we both loved them. They came with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce for dipping. We both enjoyed our lunch and would like to come back again...
Read moreBetween New Haven and Black Rock, its a reason to pull over. Downtown Milford is a restaurant destination in waiting, a dozen or so prime examples of restaurant real estate within walking distance that are all struggling to cook the perfect baked potato. Thank god this place is not another business lunch or "contemporary american" style boredom factory. Perhaps its a sign of things to come? Do you favor seasoning? Freshness? Is it important to you? If yes, then stop by. The interior is nothing special, you wouldnt propose to your future wife in this place. But its definitely the first date venue that will vastly improve your chances later on. All kidding aside, the menu is on point, the staff is friendly and ingredients top knotch, an easy 5 star...
