My friend Bill & I decided to treat ourselves to a late breakfast. After debating whether to go to our regular places like The Front Porch Grill or iHop we decided to try the new place in Millbrook, Waffle & Co. We heard mixed reviews, however we like to judge for ourselves. Besides it’s our understanding that this place has the same owners as Cask & Vine & we enjoy it there. For those of you that know me you know I don’t mix my words so this is what we both agreed about. When you walk into Waffle and Co. it is stalk and bare, there is no color and it’s very sterile. The main room seemed to be arrange for a child’s tea party. As you entered it was a big empty room with a few scattered tables and a big long high top. There are no colors on the walls. Nevertheless, we decided to sit and have brunch. They advertise themselves as a brunch place. The second room was set up oddly as well. The tables set up for two are too small. Our waitress was an angel. Her names is Alexis, she was attentive and very helpful. The first thing that caught my eye was that they have the nerve to print that there is a 3% surcharge if you don’t pay with cash. That is part of your overhead. Honestly, a quality restaurant could add that 3% into their pricing or if that 3% really means that much to you then be a cash only restaurant. It took the Waffle & Co. a long time to open. There was a lot of construction going on for months. We could not believe that a restaurant that considers themselves a “brunch place” would look so shabby. There were a bunch of paint splatters all over the luxury vinyl floors that was never cleaned off, you could see the plaster patches under the newly painted walls. Well enough about the lack of ambiance. We ordered our food, most thing were à la cart, $3 for an egg stood out to us as excessive (that’s $36 a dozen). We each got 2 eggs, and traditional waffle each. I decided to splurge and try their hash brown casserole for $5, I should not have been adventurous. The hash browns were suppose to have cheese on them, however they were like paste, tasteless and not appealing at all. I feel that this can potentially be a gold mine but if they don’t make the atmosphere warm and friendly and improve on some of the menu items and not nickel and dime you for 3% I don’t see this as a long term local restaurant. ⭐️⭐️ I give...
Read moreWe ate there on a busy Saturday morning. Food was good. Unlike other reviewer, our biscuits were not hard and seemed to be baked just fine. The hashbrown casserole was good, as was the waffle and portions were filling. We did have service issues also, but they were busy. The servers sections seemed to overlap. Our server worked in the backroom where we were, plus up front, plus he disappeared once he served our food and never returned to ask how the food was or if we needed coffee refills. Recommendations would be to take away the trays and paper. It doesn't make much sense to have paper under waffles or biscuits and gravy. The paper tends to tear when cutting food with a knife. Keep the coffee creamer at the table. It's kind of a pain trying to get some when your server is busy. I do agree that the ambiance was lacking. Walls were barren and dining room was cold. Other than that I think with a few tweaks this place can grow into something good. It's really nice to have another weekday breakfast option in Millbrook. All the employees we came into contact with were...
Read moreFirst time. Around 9:15 am. Only 2 other tables seated. Comfortable seats. Tried the basic waffle, no powered sugar or whipped cream. Menu says "Belgium " also ordered side of grits and an order ofbacon. Bacon was 3 strips cooked nicely, tasted great. Cheese grits well, they were more cheese with a few grits. Tasted weird but goid but not what I expected. The waffle was light brown, but interior was gummy like under done. Maybe reduce heat and cook a bit longer. Not like Belgium 8ve had before but ate and used the table syrup which was good. Staff friendly, music playing but not too loud. Overall ok. I'd like to suggest you frame the various jerseys on the wall, looked sorta dumpy stuck on the walls. Didn't use restrooms so will not comment on those. Oh, coffee was delicious! I like that food was served on a real plate with real utensils but suggest smaller plates and bowls for sides. Over all ok, I was sure full...
