I don’t usually write reviews but this experience deserves one. I have been here many times, each time the service and food was ok, nothing too good nothing too bad, your typical diner. However after recently coming here, I was shocked. I asked the waitress if it’s ok to sit outside, she led us to our table and a few minutes later comes back and tells us we can’t sit here because they have to take down the umbrellas. Mind you it is 9 pm and they close at 12 am. Don’t see why they have to close them now but ok we go back inside. (They ended up never touching the umbrellas.) We get our menus which comes with a separate sheet for the specials. Not even a minute goes by when a man who I assume works as a host comes by the table and says “I assume you won’t be needing that” in regards to the sheet with the specials on it takes it from the table without us saying a word. I’m speechless because I haven’t looked at it, I wasn’t asked if I was done with it or if I needed it, Why would there be an assumption I won’t need it? Maybe I’d like to order something from it? I dont know maybe because it’s part of the menu?!!!!!! I managed to tell him no I haven’t looked at it yet, he places it on the table and walks away. No apology no words no nothing. Ok so maybe he had a bad day or was extremely constipated who knows. I don’t let it bother me and move on. The waitress come to take our order to which I ask her if a specific sandwich (dont remember the name) comes with French fries to which she told me “I don’t know look on the menu whatever is there.” Obviously if I am asking her I don’t see what it comes with. I told her, I don’t see where its written so can you please find out if it does. To this she rolls her eyes and goes and asks a fellow waitress comes back says “yeah” and walks away. Ok now me and my party are contemplating to leave, since not much else is open in Millburn at this time we decide to stay. The waitress comes back and takes my friends order, she writes something down says ok and takes my order. After she finished taking my order, she turns to my friend once again and says “oh so you’re not going to eat anything.” To which my friend doesn’t know how to reply and I proceeded to tell the waitress what she ordered once more. My friend didnt order a big entree or a huge meal or anything but a few apps and a drink. The waitress was obviously discontempt with her order for some unknown reason. Even if someone comes here to buy an order of fries, it’s a diner and nevertheless you’re still the customer and you’re still paying money for what you’re getting. Waitress had a terrible attitude the entire night. All members of the staff looked as if they would rather be some place else. The reason we were not able to sit outside is just because they were lazy to walk an extra 5 feet. Not coming back here again, definitely don’t recommend this place, not even...
Read moreStopped by on St. Paddy's Day, and it was a pleasant surprise that they had a St. Paddy's Day Menu.
I got the "Traditional Irishman's Platter." It really was raw ingredients, and really one of the most basic plates. Literally slices of corned beef on a huge mound of tasteless cabbage and a couple steamed potatoes and baby carrots. It was also really dry and I felt like I needed gravy although traditionally corned beef and cabbage doesn't need it. The cabbage wasn't too soft either.
We also got a side of Fish and Chips, and they were your standard fish and chips. I wish they included more pieces of fish as there were only three as opposed to a mound of fries beneath. Also, no tarter sauce.
For Millburn Diner, I'd stick to the simple stuff, like the Burgers and fries... I had pastitsio and their lasagna before and they were hard to swallow at some points.
Service is alright, I liked their directness, but sometimes it sounded like they wanted us to leave (despite the room being nowhere near full capacity).
Another visit: their vegetable stir fry is actually pretty good, and it is a really good value for the quantity as it also comes with soup and salad and a lot of rice. No baby corn as it said in the menu, but not...
Read moreTruly insulted today. Left the place without eating. This morning, the restaurant was busy and I waited at my table for the coffee and was chatting with my kids. I glanced at the waitress thinking she was coming to me. She stopped and yelled at me for "looking" at her and that she was busy. Then she came back by after 15 min with menus. And this time yelled at me more saying, "You don't have to look at me like that.". I said I wasn't. She insisted I was and walked away and yelled again from the other end of the restaurant that I will not look at her again. Every guest looked at me. I was embarassed. Then she went to the manager and said she will not serve my table. I had not said a word to her except that I wasn't. After a few min of feeling humiliated, I went to the manager and told him I was yelled at twice and I didn't deserve that. He didn't care. He said he will send someone else to serve me. I sat down, waited another few minutes and finally just left. It's been hours and I still feel upset and humiliated in public for "looking" at the waitress while waiting over 20 min. I understand it was busy but that wasn't my fault. The manager saw me leave and said nothing....
