Meh...I think we are done with the La Fountain restaurants. This location USED to be our go-to Mexican cuisine.
However, the last few times we have ordered from there, have been significantly disappointing (both the Sandy location, and this one).
Part of what we appreciated about the food here was the fact that it was fresh, generous, and the overall balance of flavors on the plate were complimentary. Each component of the plate tasted unique. The burrito tasted different than the enchilada. The rice tasted different from the tacos.
I don't know what "specifically" has changed to make the food taste alike (recipes maybe?), but literally EACH menu item on our usual order (large combination plate) tastes exactly the same.
The so-called tostada tasted just like the taco, the wannabe enchilada tasted just like taco, because the mole is seasoned with the same ingredients as the taco meat.
The whole blend of seasoning now actually has strong hints of Tex-Mex style cuisine (I don't know if that is by design or not). Don't get me wrong, I love Tex-Mex, but if I want that, I will go to restaurants that formally feature that cuisine.
The pork chile verde had just the green Chiles, but no pork. Quite literally, I had ZERO pork in the tablespoon of Chile Verde alotted to my plate.
Apparently, "smothered" means something different...more like a "dab" slopped somewhere on your plate.
The only meat protein on my plate was in fact the small dollop of taco mean slopped in the taco shell, with no lettuce, tomatoes, cheese...nada.
Anyway, I think it's clear that we are disenchanted with one of our former go-to Mexican restaurants.
BTW, La Cocina in Cottonwood Heights has fantastic food. ...
Read moreI order a meal on 4.9.19 I got two cheese enchiladas an order of nachos and two tamales through door dash. The food was delivered and clearly not tampered with in the packaging. I sat right down opened the container and took a bit of out the cheese enchilada. Something crunched on my tooth and I thought it broke my tooth. I spit it out and looked at it to discover it was a dogs toenail. A freaking dog toenail. I was so entirely discussed. I stoped right there and called the restaurant. The cashier was the highest level of management there and couldn’t help me of file a complaint or look to inspect food. Very concerning. The health department has been contacted and will going there to investigate. The owner or management still has yet to contact me. The only way this could have contaminated my food was by have pets inside the kitchen. This is a huge violation of public health and safety. I want to share my story so others know not to eat at this establishment. If they can’t even take enough responsibility to even have contact with me to deal with the health concerns they clearly do not have the right to be to operating a food establishment. Do NOT EAT THERE. I will follow up with what the health department finds out as they will be there to inspect the restaurant as formal complaints were lodged. I just urge anyone not take the chance of getting sick by eating there do to there lack of food safety...
Read moreI have been in professional sales, business, and customer service industry for 15 year and this is one of the worst expenses I've had in a long time. We made a reservation for 24 people and nothing was ready when we got there. When we tried to ask for some tables to be pulled together they ignored us and when we started to pull them together ourselves they told us not to. The server looked stressed which is fine, but was very rude and sighed at every request we made. They didn't ask us about drinks or refilled chips or anything. I know we were a larger group but it took them over an hour to get our food out. No amount of stress or attitude you have in business should result in getting your customers so rudly and poorly. The food wasn't bad, but not great either.
On top of all that, I took my son to go use the bathroom and it was absolutely disgusting. Stuff all over the toilet seat that I had to clean and I still didn't trust it.
I will never go to another La Fountain or any chain of...
