I made my way to the Dough Lady's shop today. It was a typical cute little Utah vibe shop. I shared a brown butter chai cinnamon roll with a friend (yes they're enough to share), bought a single to take home as well as a pack of 4 frozen. I also purchase a Vanilla Latte and an Americano. The girl at the counter pointed to the microwave to reheat my dine in roll which I found a bit odd. This is not quite what I would expect from a bakery since the microwave does very little to make the cinn roll better. This seems like something that the bakers would do for you behind the counter in order for their product to be the best possible. This feels like a slight miss overall. When we got our coffee, we could instantly tell that this part of the business is an afterthought. As with many businesses in Utah, the coffee tastes like the owners don't drink coffee and it shows. The coffee was bitter and when I asked for cream they pointed t a bowl of coffee mate creamers. When you are charging the same prices as Starbucks for your coffee, you need to offer real cream. A carafe isn't that hard to maintain and might improve your coffee slightly. Ultimately, they need to get someone that knows about coffee to come in and help with this part of the experience. I know the main focus of this business is obviously their cinn. rolls and they hit it out of the park there! They are delicious and worth the price. Until they figure out the coffee I would skip it, take your roll home and enjoy your reheated melted cinn. roll with your own coffee. (If you think ahead, the frozen are really where it's at. Delicious, gooey and sweet right out...
Read moreI’ve always been picky about bakery items. They often aren’t gooey enough or frosted enough or flavored enough for me. But also, the dough needs to be cooked sufficiently so it isn’t raw and not too cooked so that it is dry. And even when those criteria are met, they are often an overly sugary, sticky cinn-a-mess.
NOT THESE.
Never have I ever, in 45 years, had cinna-perfection like this. These are simply the best freakin’ cinnamon rolls in the whole, wide, world. Balancing sweetness with tart (lemon raspberry), bringing the flavors of fall (brown butter chai), these cinna-BOMBS will blow you out of the water.
Run, don’t walk. Scooter, Segway, Hot Wheels on over. Fly if you can (private jets I’m lookin at you). Parachute, zip line, or ideally, teleport.
Then sit. Sit and savor the deliciousness that is the Dough Lady’s signature swirls of plump perfection. The lady deserves the Nobel prize for baking. Move over Martha. Julia Child would give a throaty laugh of delight. Because Salt Lake’s own Dough Lady has done the seemingly impossible: created the PERFECT cinnamon roll. In every flavor. While utilizing local farmers for freshly sourced fruits! But still playfully including Fruity Pebbles for the rest of us who weren’t allowed “sugared cereal” to create a delectable cinna-FUN-roll.
Well done, Dough Lady. Well done.
Cooks’ Illustrated take note. Ben & Jerry’s, her Peach Cobbler roll is your next flavor.
Thank you, Dough Lady. You’re making all our days, and our nights (try them warmed with vanilla ice cream). Cinna-YUM.

Read morePhenomenal! I came here for my birthday and took home one of each flavor to try.
First, the rolls: The lemon blueberry and lemon raspberry are my FAVORITE!! I dream of these rolls. I did like the brown butter chai and the regular cinnamon roll as well. They were good, I did still enjoy them, but for me, they paled in comparison to the rolls with lemon for me. They had such an amazing balance of tart and sweet.. so so good!! I actually went back two weeks later to get just the lemon rolls and the lattes. Which brings me to my next part.
Second, the lattes: I got an iced banana bread latte and a hot chai latte. SO good!! I thoroughly enjoyed both of them and honestly would go back even just for the lattes! She has such an amazing medium sweet balance. I was pleasantly surprised when I took a sip of the banana bread latte and actually got the accompanying flavor of coffee with the additional flavors instead of smack you in the face sweet.
And then, on top of the delicious food, the atmosphere is like a cute little coffee shop and the people that work there, especially the owner, are so sweet and kind! Very good company as well I would say!
I WILL be back! This place has quickly become a favorite!! It DEFINITELY started my...
