Typically one of my all-time favorite places to eat breakfast. Food is good You're made to feel at home. This is why today's experience was such a sharp contrast to my previous experiences that I felt I needed to leave a review. The place was about half empty. You could tell that it was the end of the breakfast rush. And there were some dirty tables. But there were also several clean tables and spaces at the bar. I was met by someone who asked table for one? I said yes. They went off to do other business. Meanwhile a woman and her daughter came in. We struck up a conversation and spoke for several minutes. They were asked a table for two at the same time 5 men came in, and were asked table for five? They said yes. About 30 seconds later she's sat the table for five. A few minutes after that she sat the table for two. After several minutes I cought the eye of the mother and daughter who id been speaking to earlier. They had this puzzle look on their face like why are you still standing there? Good question. I tried to catch the eye of the woman who was seating people. She was dashing all around me but never look at me. I busy myself looking at the decor and knick knacks of the waiting area. The lady doing the seating again walked near me without looking at me and went to the outside tables. It had been quite some time since she had sat the last table. I finally decided I didn't want to wait anymore and started to leave. As I was leaving the woman said something about in too much of a hurry to wait? My response was that may have been the oddest experience that I've ever had and perhaps you could have at least acknowledged that you were getting a table ready for me. At which point she demanded that she had. And then called me a f* a*. I never raise my voice I wasn't snarky or sarcastic. Most likely this woman just had a really bad day. I don't really know. I'm very sad that I've lost my favorite breakfast location. I'm sure one bad review out of the many good reviews will not make a difference. I dont want to hurt this business because I think in general there probably pretty good. Just know that you may not always get...
Read moreWhen I first went to lazy day cafe. I ordered the lazy deluxe. I ate on the patio which was calm and relaxing. The breakfast was great. The gravy superb. Eggs were perfect. Potatoes and bacon savory. They even had a unique carrot based hot sauce that was surprisingly delicious.
I was excited to find a new breakfast place as the blue plate diner is closed and I’ve been to the park and Eggs in the city a few too many times.
The following week on Wednesday. I took my wife to share in the experience. I should have checked there hours before hand. We arrived to learn they are closed tues-wed. Silly mistake. Eager to try the place with my wife. We went back on Friday. Upon arrival we were told they were closed as they did not receive their food shipment.
So again we left. I guess we will try again. So fast forward six days to Thursday. Maybe we should call this time. Silly me I said “we’ll be fine. What are the chances we don’t get food.”
We showed up and good news. They were open. The patio was full but we found a table inside. The big moment awaits. I brought along a co worker with my wife and I as we all work together.
“We all want the lazy deluxe.” After a moment. The waiter returned and stated that unfortunately they were out of biscuits. He asked if we would like something else instead like toast or an English muffin. My wife suggested a waffle thinking it would be substituted for the biscuits. We all did the same.
After 15 minutes the waiter returned with three waffles. One waffle for each of us. I told the waiter that I thought we were substituting the waffle for the biscuit. He informed me they couldn’t do the lazy deluxe and that he thought we changed our order. He also apologized for the miscommunication.
At this point however. I just felt it wasn’t meant to be and asked for the check. They graciously refused payment. So out of the four times I’ve tried to go. I’ve eaten once and that one time was delicious.
Let’s just say they put the lazy in lazy day. Hopefully in the future. I will again experience the lazy deluxe but then again. I’m probably just having some...
Read moreI really, really wanted to like the Lazy Day Cafe, but my experience there was only mediocre. I decided upon that particular spot because I had heard about their "famous" lemon pancakes. I'm a fan of lemon everything!
When I arrived at the secluded cafe, the open sign was off, however it was 8:12 AM, so I call and made sure they were open. As soon as the phone started ringing, I saw someone walk over to the open sign and turn it on; I feel this may be a common occurrence.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming, only the server and the cook were there when I arrived, and the server told me to talk any 2 top I like. I sat down, she brought me water, and I proceeded to order.
The cafe itself is very homey and welcoming. It's nice and open, however it also has some nice little cozy spots, as well as your typical american cafe decor.
Coffee was good. Water was water. I ordered the Lemon pancakes with a side of hash-browns. The hash-browns were nice and golden, however they were too heavily seasoned with salt, pepper, and whatever other seasonings the chef used. Mildy disappointed by the potatoes, I moved to the Lemon Pancakes. I hate to say this, I really really do... but they weren't anything to phone home about. They were okay. They were only the slightest bit golden, which I feel they definitely could have been. They had been pre-buttered and sprinkled with powdered sugar, and came with a lemony type syrup on the side. The syrup was really flavorful, a bit thin to be honest, which soaked into the pancakes. Once the pancakes were introduced to any syrup, you had to work quickly, because they became soggy seemingly extra quick.
I'm hoping I just came on an off day, or since maybe I was the first person the grill wasn't ready. I don't know. I really didn't want to have a 3 star experience. I really wanted to love everything. And while the spot alone is pretty neat, this experience was unfortunately a...
