This isnt even Momo, its an Indian take on momos, not dumplings. Everything is masala based. Food is pretty mid for Indian food. They cook with a Wok, but it’s essentially Indian food without mentioning it in their website or menu. “House special spices” essentially Indian spices instead of Tibetan momo flavoring. I ordered no spicy and my food came out spicy. Its extremely overpriced as well. Terrible restaurant. Chicken skewers are dry, “dumplings with soup” is essentially a bath of indian curry with steamed “momos”. The “pina colada” is just a pineapple juice lassi. All the food smells and tastes like Indian food, you go inside and it smells like indian food. Please label yourselves as Indian restaurant instead of lying. I paid over $60 for trash food. Dont go here unless you want Indian ripoff version of authentic asian food. Thank you

Then you should mention the restaurant is a Asian fusion restaurant. You cant double dip and then just say its a “restaurant”. Ive eaten plenty of authentic momos in nyc food trucks, the pork dumplings are similar but still 6/10 at best. Ripped momo skin on some of my 10 momos.
The vegetable momo is just smushed up vegetables. We ordered the regular vegetable momos and its got spices in it when the pork doesnt. Makes no sense. Your menu says “momos with soup” its not soup momos. The pan fried potatoes and chicken skewers are also spicy when we asked for no spicy. Everything has masala it doesn’t work that way, garam masala differs from household to household depending on what spices are near their local proximity. That is the danger of many asian fusion restaurant, or having non authentic chefs. It just doesnt work. I was not offered a refund says a lot about a business accepting its mistakes. Just cuz non palatable people eat the food and say its good does not mean its good food. I have never seen a nepali restaurant nearly as indian.
You can clearly see other people giving the same criticism about this restaurant. They have not changed. They want to be obscure about their food. No...
Read moreOn a recent trip to Wyoming, the Fat Man and his wife flew into Salt Lake City before driving north to Wyoming. This was on purpose as we wanted to eat at The Dumpling Company again. We were there a few months ago while in Utah. The Dumplings Company is a Nepalese restaurant serving Asian-style dumplings, soup, and noodles in a relaxed environment.
We started with the pork dumplings and soup. This was made with sesame seed, tomato, ginger, garlic, spices, and pork dumplings. We ordered this medium heat level. The soup broth was rich, full of spices, and had some texture and body to it while being packed with flavor. The dumplings were chewy, offering a great bite. The pork was tender and popping with great heat, garlic, and Indian spices. The heat was not overwhelming, but a nice warming level that lingered on the tongue. This was an excellent dish.
The next offering that we tried was the Chicken Masala dumplings. This was served with homemade chicken dumplings topped with tikka masala sauce. We also ordered this at the medium spice level. The masala sauce was sweet, creamy, and full of flavor. The dumpling was chewy, and it held the filling perfectly. The chicken was moist, tender, and juicy, full of flavor and great heat. The heat was not overpowering and gave a little burn on the back end of the bite. It lingered but did not grow over time.
The Dumplings Company has a good-sized menu offering appetizers, steamed, Masala, chili, or soup with dumplings, rice dishes, skewered meat dishes, and pastries. They serve Coke products, and the service was fast and friendly. This restaurant is a must-try if you are in the Salt Lake area. The Fat Man says that The Dumplings Company is Fat Man Approved...
Read moreThe Dumplings Co had been on our list of places to try for a while and didnt dissappint. We ordered one of the vegan dumpling platters, which comes with the steamed, marsala, chili, and mango dumplings as well as a full order of chicken soup and chicken chili dumplings. I'd recommend trying the platter your first visit as it gives you a chance to taste 4/5 varieties and is enough food that one person would definitely be full, though if you plan to split it you may want one additional order as each of us ate ~15 dumplings and left full.
If I come back I will likely get full orders of the mango and chili, as the fried dumplings were my favorite base and the balance of sweet and spicy sauces played nicely together. The non-vegetarian perspective was that the chicken filling was more flavorful than the vegan filling, though as a vegetarian I thought the vegan ones were tasty, so your mileage may vary in mixed groups if you order all vegan. If you're in the area I'd recommend trying it...
