The LYC is a cute little place in downtown Milledgeville in the old section close to the college. It has big front windows letting in lots of natural light to fill the high ceilings of yesteryear. The decor is kinda all over the place but is something to look at. The large open space creates the acoustics of a cafeteria when they are busy. Where everyone talks louder and louder trying to hear the conversation of those at the table with them. The selection on the menu is actually really quite surprising. I was able to order Eggs Benedict which is not that big of a deal in a large city, but this is Milledgeville. That being said, it was fantastic. The hollandaise was not powdered and had all the wonderful flavors of butter and a hint of lemon wrapped in a light creamy mouthgasim. The way it’s supposed to taste. The Canadian Bacon was a nice thick cut and the poached egg was cooked just right. I would say the yolk was thicker than runny but not quite cured. Kind of like honey in viscosity. This allowed it to adhere well to each bite giving it a full rounded flavor instead of pooling on the plate. I did not include a photo because the presentation was lacking. Thus the 4 out of 5 star review. I will be visiting the place again to try the other dishes and offerings. You should too if given the chance. I would recommend you just shoot for off peak times to make the experience...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately it is underwhelming. It was 20 minutes before the single waitress acknowledged me on a Monday. I ordered the $1 mimosa Monday special and a tea for my daughter. My drink was excellent. My daughter received chocolate milk instead of tea. She wanted to keep it so I said nothing. When the bill came I was charged full price for the mimosa as well as for a tea and a chocolate milk. I then pointed it out. The mimosa price was reduced and I was charged for the higher priced drink, the tea I didn’t get. Ten cents more so I made no stink. I ordered beignets as an app, the Savannah benedict, and corn beef hash. I watched the beignets come up after my meal. My meal sat in the window for 10 minutes while we ate the beignets. They were very good! The meal itself was not. The crab cake was cool and the hollandaise sauce was really gross. Maybe because it sat? It tasted like a tangy mayonnaise. I couldn’t eat it. The corn beef was okay. We had to wait to eat because we had no utensils. The waitress didn’t ask about the food or refills. I had to ask for everything like napkins, an extra plate, utensils, condiments . One waitress was not enough for all those tables. I watched a customer yell to get her attention to pick up their check. It really showed in the service. This place has potential but I doubt I will give them...
Read moreCHANGING MY RATING FROM 5 to 1- Here's why: I went with my husband for brunch today and arrived exactly at 2:25. We walked up to the restaurant at along with a family of 4, another couple, and a single man. WE WERE ALL TURNED AWAY BECAUSE THEY WERE CLOSING IN 35 mins.
No food is so good that apathetic employees can turn away 9 people and expect someone not to say something. There are not enough Nutella beignets to make me return here again. Apparently they don't need the business anyway.
Disregard everything I said down below:
Bottomless pitchers of mimosas- what magical words. This place is a gem. I can’t believe I didn’t find it sooner. I stared at the menu and for a moment thought I was somewhere else. I highly recommend the Crab Cakes Benedict. My bff had the smoked salmon Benedict and didn’t speak much...just made a lot of noise...so I’ll assume it was as delicious as mine. The wait staff was amazing...and they are not texting anyone....they are taking your order and sending it to the kitchen with an iPhone app...
I ate...drank mimosas...took home some Nutella stuffed beignets that I still am not over...they were decadent...and brought my hubby a steak, egg, and cheese bagel that he inhaled. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. I only wish they...
