Shima Sushi Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Milledgeville

With so many good reviews our experience must’ve been a one-off because it was bad. Really bad. The hibachi was mediocre. My shrimp, for example, were still cold and my steak was really tough. The yakisoba was, according to my daughter, inedible. The sushi was the worst any of us have ever had. Mine tasted like it had Alpo in the middle of it but most people just said theirs was just very bland. The service was initially really good, until it wasn’t and then it was so bad. A nice young lady was being very attentive. Then, after ordering drinks but before we could order food, she left and a young man took over. The young man had the attitude and demeanor of someone who was being forced to be there and he was dressed like his usual job was taking out the trash. The food came very slowly and one plate at a time. The hibachi actually came pretty quickly but the sushi is what took so long. The first people served were long since finished eating by the time the last few were finally served and they only got theirs because I finally asked the waiter who was busy making sure the counter didn’t fly away if their food was ever going to come. I might have asked to speak to a manager, which is something I rarely do but in this case I would make an exception, but there didn’t seem to be one. The cooks were hanging out at the bar, for example, something no manager worth their pay would ever allow plus what I mentioned about the servers just kinda hanging out and the sushi preparer usually nowhere to be seen. So I dropped $160-ish dollars on a meal no one enjoyed. Which was really disappointing because it’s in a cool place, a couple of doors down from where The Opera House used to be. This place is not A sushi Restaurant Staffed by all college student who've probably never eaten at a Japanese run Sushi restaurant spent their time on their phone then to clean The chicken was dry tough and flavorless my Sashimi platter was disgusting samon and another fish smelt fishy, the octopus was dry, hard and rubbery, only thing I was able to eat was the tuna. The Rolls were clumsy and size of cucumber slices inside were to thick and unappealing The fried rice was flavorless and basically brown looking white rice. We have had better sushi at grocery stores at least they are Asian or Japanese preparing it. Woman Bathroom was dirty Paper towels on floor and needed sweeping. Who ever is manager needs to...

PLEASE DO EAT HERE. Food is great, never takes too long to get out to you. Atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming,Service is always amazing, the new owner is super friendly, introduces himself to customers and will do everything he can to make your experience superb. Been going here for years and never have had a problem not once! I thought with new management it may not be as good but nothing has changed and the new owner conducts his business well, even in the face of Karen's 🙄 BTW his Bento box...
