Sushi Sama is an order-at-the-counter sushi restaurant in the Kroger shopping center at the corner of Peachtree Pkwy and Sharon Road.
I really want this restaurant to succeed - it is convenient to home. And the good news is that I enjoyed the sushi rolls, the menu with pictures is large with many choices, and the staff was attentive. The prices were about standard.
On the down side: you're hit with a "fishy" smell upon entering (maybe that means things are extra-fresh?). The dining tables are extremely uncomfortable, so much so that I would probably not dine-in there again (I'm an average size male).
A few other minor quibbles, which aren't a huge deal for me: no soy sauce bottles; your soy sauce is served in a plastic cup (so you can't be sure what of soy sauce you are getting). There weren't any specials of the "pick any 3 for $x" variety on the menu.
The competition in this space/area is Umami, which is also a "fast food" sushi place on Peachtree Pkwy. I really hope Sushi Sama improves and thrives, as I did...
Read moreI came in 15 min before closing time. Not my usual MO, but when trying out a new place a good test is to see what kind of service they give you. I was pleasantly surprised at the interior design, the orange bright but not overwhelming. The person working FOH was super nice and attentive. I ordered two rolls, the teriyaki eel roll and the dragon roll. A classic and a roll I never have had before. I got it to go and they packaged it perfectly in a paper bag, stapled shut to ensure it would not move around. The small touches like that is what makes me appreciate a restaurant. The eel roll was not the best, eel is one of my favorites and I’ve had many in ATL; the lettuce confused the texture and taste pállate of the roll, and I couldn’t finish it bc of that. The eel was also raw and not seasoned with anything so it was a bit tough going down even w soy sauce. The dragon roll however was equal parts flavorful and crunchy. Thank you for your...
Read moreNot quite what we expected, but still absolutely delicious! We thought this was going to be a trendy sushi café, but I think it's definitely more of a quick, casual takeout spot! Definitely not in a negative way, as the food was delicious!
I got the Demon roll, as well as a Sake cone, which was literally perfect! The rolls are absolutely massive and filling, and while you may think you need seconds, I can assure you that you will be full! It's a sort of a là carte style, as a lot of the stuff is listed out individually in small portions and prices were reasonable. The part that took me back the most were the paper plates the food was served on, but honestly the food was good so it didn't matter too much! 😂 Great...
