This is a great place. Now that Fratelli's has closed, getting a good Italian Beef sandwich can be tough. Portello's has a good sandwich but it did not match Fratelli's. Mario's makes a great Italian Beef sandwich. The sandwich is thick and the juice and toppings are given in small cups so you add as much or as little as you want. Most important - it is fresh and tasty. One method I use to judge how fresh food is depends on whether the vegetables are crispy or soggy. Unfortunately so many places make their mix early in the day and the toppings are so soft you don't need to chew them - you suck them through your teeth (pay attention Portello's). The toppings at Mario's are fresh - the carrots and celery are crunchy. (This happens to be my favorite sandwich.) Mario's is better known for its pizza which comes in 4 sizes; one is 20" in diameter! They have a variety of other pastas, sandwiches, etc. (There are no pork products served here.) There is a desert case but I cannot comment on it as the sandwich was so big I didn't want desert. Everything is take out or eat in - they do deliver. There is easy parking and the restaurant is handicap accessible. This is one you...
Read moreGot the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, chicken parm, cheese bread, and cheese sticks. All of it was pretty bad if I’m being honest. I feel like whatever ingredients they have are either expired or extremely low quality. Also everything was extremely bland and under seasoned. Even the smell when I got the food wasn’t good. Now that I’ve tried a little bit of it all, my stomach actually feels queasy (not like actually sick just grossed out). The chicken fettuccine alfredo was actually the worst by far, it tasted so bland and like a lean cuisine frozen meal. Idk if I just choose the wrong stuff to try or what. But DoorDash made it seem like this place was known for their pastas and I REALLY was not a fan of the pastas I tried. I feel like the cheese they use is spoiled; the low quality of the cheese really ruined all the food I got. I mean I am picky about my cheese so maybe their food would taste okay to someone whose not picky about cheese but everything was still bland so idk if they would even like any of the dishes I got. Only good thing was that the delivery time was short and I got my food...
Read moreI have to give Mario's a generous rating. Overall our whole family thinks the food is tasty which is why we've ordered from them more than a few times. I will admit though, some dishes are better than others. Some of the sandwiches are a bit bland and the burgers are just okay BUT their pizza is delicious as well as the pasta dishes we've tried. The cheesy spaghetti is great and so is the lasagna. A lot of places practically mummify their lasagna in mozzarella cheese but Mario's does it perfectly. In all fairness, this place has only been opened for maybe 2 years at the most and the owners are immigrants. We always have 1 of 2 delivery drivers and both of them have thick Italian accents. I think the problem with Mario's is that their still adjusting to the demand. Milwaukee is a busy city and I'm pretty sure small places like Mario's can easily get overwhelmed. Your more likely to get the best tasting food during the week when it's quieter as opposed to a Friday or...
