I have lived in Milwaukee CLACKAMAS area for many years since 1977. I am a senior citizen. I live in MILWAUKIE. I Often order at from CHANS's restaurant or do a takeout sometimes as the years have gone by. I go to Chan’s for lunch or dinner! Sometimes taking my friends to the restaurant or bar. I live within walking distance of the restaurant.seems as though the man who owns the restaurant is not there anymore. I believe his adult children are running the restaurant the handling everything about the restaurant. Normally I will have fun & order their special…steak, prawns & ribs $41! I was surprised that Chan’s had a price hike & has cut back to smaller portions of food. I am very disappointed as it is so expensive to have dinner there now. I realize every business has to make a profit. Especially, during the pandemic.
The service to order over the phone is also disappointing due to rushing you off the phone. Not a friendly tone! The food is great. But a bit overpriced & smaller portions.
I can remember ordering that same dinner at $25. Then the price for the same dinner went up to $35! And now it's $41 and no vegetables.
The cook didn’t even cook my steak properly . So I'm gonna tell you I'm gonna give them about five on the scale! because I am so disappointed in the family owned restaurant that always has been so good to their customers Now, the kids are running the show. It’s just way it should be done! $41 for specialty dinner and the steak is small. By the way when I ordered take out that night. I also, paid for my boyfriend & the was $82+! It was not what I was...
Read moreI've come to Chans for years. In the past the food has been dependable and at a good price point for the quality. In recent months food prices have been steadily rising and the quality has not been improving- unfortunately it is often the opposite depending on the dish. They are now selling a broccoli entrée for 18 dollars and the quality does not warrant the price as just one example.
The last time we went there was a new menu which I was excited for until I saw it. Prior to this visit the menu was double sided. Someone on the management team thought it would be much better if they crammed the entire menu onto one page instead of two, which may have been a good idea if the menu had been downsized but unfortunately they have added to the already bloated selection. My eyesight is fine and I had to squint to read the small font (we are talking smaller than 8 point for the items and even smaller for any descriptions.) My companion had to break out the magnifier app on their phone to read anything at all. Looking around the bar I saw many patrons with the menu a few inches from their faces trying to decipher the selections.
The bartenders are still as dependable as ever, but the food quality is going downhill while prices are going up and if you don't have perfect vision bring your reading glasses if you...
Read moreOrdered through Postmates:
20oz Ribeye, Baked potato, cooked perfectly, tender and moist steak, large potato cooked well, comes with butter, sour cream and chives.
Fish and chips, fries as side. They aren't kidding, they make little chips that come with it on top of the side. comes with a small wedge of lemon and a small container of tartar sauce. Fish has a tempura like batter and is delicious.
General tso combo, comes with 2 egg rolls, pork chow mein and pork rice. The general tso was not spicy, it was really sweet and did not taste like any we have tried before, it wasn't something we would order again. The egg rolls, fried rice & chow mein were good.
Appetizer sampler, comes with fried shrimp, bbq pork, egg roll and the cream cheese & crab puffs. All items in this are good.
Sauces:
Hot mustard packets, always good. Soy sauce, not our thing, too salty. Sweet and sour, this stuff glows, it was ok tasting, a little sweet and no sour. Ketchup, not my thing, even with gets, thought it was cocktail sauce. Random orange sauce with sesame seeds, if I had to guess what was in it: sweet and sour, mayo, sesame seed, ketchup? It would probably be good on the pork if you like sweet and creamy sauces.
Would recommend, prices are good and most of the...
