*Updated review* With this location's refurbish (removal of home style wall art and intro of larger order windows) I was expecting same great quality food with an easier ordering process. Definitely got the latter with QR code ordering but the food was very lacking. If you're going to charge over $5 for plank fries, can I have more than 10 small crunchy ones please?! Tbh felt kinda ripped off. Plus, the burger wasn't as prior visits: sloppy and tasteless, with thick slice of 'water-bag' tomato. The shakes didn't drink like shakes but rather ice cream with a straw; the raspberry one so full of seeds, made it not ideal, and the Reese's had unblended pieces at bottom making it more like dessert. These could be one-off's so will try again and alter if not the same experience. Employees, as always, super friendly, and gave me extra stickers on their 'free sticker' night. $45 gets you 2 burgers, 2 shakes, plank fries, and onion rings. *Previous review* This place is celebrating 50 yrs of service! Decent cheeseburger, and a mushroom & swiss burger (ordered a double patty; they came a bit light on cheese & mushrooms respectively), with a good portion of fries. The 50¢ corn dog is insane - it's bloody massive for the price!

I have been a looooong time Mike's customer and have waited with anticipation for their re- opening. I knew it would likely be busy and some kinks to work out, but also expected that there would be some degree of quality control and supervision to avoid missteps. We ordered in person, and waited patiently. I did not have a problem with the wait, knowing the food is cooked to order. One bite of a french fry 30 seconds after picking up from the window, 30 seconds after our number was called, and COLD fries confirmed to me that no one is making sure things are going well, just that food is getting out, good or bad. My own burger, ordered on a GF bun, had no markings to separate from my daughter's and was lukewarm at best. Hers, a plain cheeseburger, seemed to have been the hold up, as hers was mostly warm. Shakes were almost up to par, but still a little off the mark. With the price increase across the board, there was a little extra sting in it being well below expectations. I can say we'll try again, but not for a while until the bad taste of this experience wears off.

My wife saw an indication that one of Mikes' temporary featured flavors was licorice ice cream. We made the trip (finding out along the way that the Sellwood location no longer exists). Fortunately, the Milwaukie location is going strong. This is a real piece of Americana - with a bowling alley across the street, train tracks that run alongside the edge of the parking lot, ads painted on the windows (not sure if it was Scot Campbell's work, but the retro vibe works), and, most importantly, quality food that's made to order. The licorice lover in my family was thrilled with her ice cream, while I was very impressed with a soft serve sundae made with Ghirardelli dark chocolate and caramel. Current Covid procedures do not allow dining inside, so my only concern would involve a visit when it's rainy - there's a covered sidewalk that can easily be full of people waiting to place an order. So, once you've ordered, it may be hard to stay dry while waiting for your food to cook. And, yes, I firmly believe the quality of Mike's offerings is well worth the wait.

This was a trip down memory lane for me. I was living in Milwaukee rite down the street when Mike's first opened. I've been eating here for 30 plus years. It's been a out a decade since I was last in as I moved away. Today I brought my wife in for her first time. Man... So many memories... I remember when they updated the outside sitting area. So many burgers; so many memories. Anyways. We enjoyed the Mike's special deluxe double baskets with milkshakes. I had nearly forgotten how great those shakes are. Real ice cream and real Marion berries. Real Tillamook cheese on the burgers too. And those onion rings are delicious. Only thing I don't care for was the coleslaw, that was nasty. Mayo, cabbage, horseradish. Gross. Last place you can still get an egg on your burger. I can't wait to return and enjoy another great burger and milkshake.

02/10/17: 4.0 out of 5 - This is the first time experiencing Mike's Drive In. My wife wanted to try this place out since she sees the coupons in the coupon mailers that comes monthly. It's small and not much inside seating, but there are a lot of regulars who comes here. We wanted to try the seafood items and take it to go. So of course, we used the coupons. Admittedly, it's not much to look at. If you were to pay the regular price you may find yourself disappointed. However, once we started in on the food, it was actually quite tasty. For being fried foods, it wasn't oily nor rank. They obviously cycle out the fryers frequently. So would we go back? I would say yes. It ended up being a positive food experience for us. So if you haven't tried Mike's Drive In yet, then try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

Today is Sunday 09/01/2024 and I stopped in for a bacon burger and I ordered fish & chips but onion rings instead of fries plus a bacon burger. Waited 17 minutes for my order, fish was good and onion rings were okay especially for the price they charge. I’ve not been here for about 30 years and thinking about the burger I had than and ordered it, I ordered Bacon Burger with lettuce, tomato, onions and heavy pickles, heavy mustard and ketchup but no mayo, no cheese. After getting to my destination and opened up the packaging and made me think 🤔 I shouldn’t have tipped that 20% $6.19 After looking at what I received for almost $10 made me feel disgusted! Look at the picture! I will never be back here again and will be spreading the word to my 16,000 social media followers!
