First of all, the online ordering experience was great but I wish it would tell you the estimated prep/wait time before you submitted your order. We ordered 3 things: -Spring rolls - really really fresh. I think it said there was chicken and shrimp but I'm pretty sure it was only shrimp. Still very good, and the dipping sauce that came with was perfect. -thai fried rice - picked the vegetable one. My only complaint here is I wish they disclosed the veggies that would be in here and gave you an option to omit. I am not a fan of mushrooms and had to pick them all out. Again, not a huge deal but be aware if you are mushroom averse like me. -red curry with chicken - the liquid portion here was great but almost too much because the ratio of rice in comparison felt off. Not a big deal because the curry flavor was really good. No mushrooms in here.
Selected Spicy for the fried rice and curry and the spice level was the perfect spicy level as far as Thai food is concerned. The pickup experience was really convenient and it sends you a text when your food is ready. The inside did not have the greatest ventilation and only about 4-5 spots to sit so would not recommend for dining in.
Overall the prices were really reasonable for what we got and I look forward to trying the other stuff...
Read moreI really wasn’t sure what authentic Laotian cuisine involved and tasted like, but I was very pleased with the food that I purchased. My goal was to have a healthy dinner and one that tasted good. I’ve learned a bit more about sticky rice, but what I really enjoy are the resh, aromatic herbs and vegetables.
I recommend the fresh spring rolls with shrimp and Cucumber Salad or Nam Khao Salad. Each one comes with a dipping sauce. Mine had a generous amount of crushed peanuts in the sauces. The Dumplings and Pork Skewers look fantastic and I plan to try them next time. Several people were picking up orders of curry, so I assume that they must be a popular dish here.
Take a look at my picture of the spring rolls; they are elegant with the shrimp being colorful and in row.
The staff were about to close by the time I found the restaurant and parked, but they were friendly people and had no problem preparing my food in the last 15 minutes of being open. I like how you can do take out, order and pick up, or dine in at one of the tables near the front window. They interior reflects their culture and has a nice cheerful décor. Parking can be a bit of a challenge as it is right on a...
Read moreI have had the pleasure of experiencing the Asian Duck Café as of this post three times. when I say that this an experience, that's exactly what it is! My first visit set the stage, we were greeted by the owner who politely and eagerly took our order. Her patience with every question I had made me feel more relaxed and excited to try this new cuisine. The food we ordered demonstrated a level of culture and refinement that captivates every taste bud in your mouth, the combination of sweet, savory, and spice was so perfect I find it extremely difficult to articulate how amazed and satisfied I was. Even after I being served the owners took the time to check in and get to know their customers, which is rare to see these days. The visits proceeding this, which were spread about two months apart each did not disappoint, the owners greeted us as if we were family they haven't seen in a while, they actually remembered us! The level of care and dedication made my fiancé and I life long regulars and cant wait for our next visit. with all that being said, if you had a chance to enjoy Minneapolis in all its wonders or just live nearby please put this on...
